Whilst we all need transportation to get through our daily routine, that doesn't mean you can't do it in style. The Pao is hands down one of the most unique things on four wheels. Every time you hop in you can't help but smile (which is a rare thing these days.) It's beach cruiser looks, giant sunroof, and a surprisingly spacious interior offer all the best bits. The Aqua Gray (FJ0) paint is hands down the most appropriate color choice that was offered. The paint has held up great over the years with few blemishes to report. The body is generally good shape although it has seen a few door dings over the years, particularly on the passenger side since everyone backs in over there. While door dings are never fun they're certainly not a huge concern with the way that PDR has come along.

The interior retains its stock, super retro vibe which is the only appropriate way to go about it. The seats are in good shape showing little signs of wear which is impressive considering the color combo. The cheque ivory cloth is rather robust yet still comfortable for long trips. Devoid of any notable rips or stains in the seats and carpet; both are in excellent condition for the age of the vehicle. The retro styling oozes from it's painted metal dash, keeping with the 60's vibe, coupled with a single large multi-function gauge. Even the steering wheel and all of the toggle switches/knobs/cranks scream vintage. One of the best features is the Panasonic radio which was one of the first joint pairings of major brands. Aside from being a perfect match to the style it also features indoor and outdoor speaker settings for when the top is open or closed. While these are deemed the convertible model they're really more of a massive sliding sunroof which offers more than enough ventilation. To top it off you've even got butterfly windows in the back to compliment the traditional front ones. It is worth noting that the top has had some repairs back in Japan to ensure that it stayed sealed, admittedly its one of the best operating ones we've had so they did a rather effective job. The other really clever feature is the rear split-folding hatch. You can pop the top glass for quick access for tossing in groceries or a gym bag, or you can lower the rear tailgate and fold down the rear seats for bigger items. These do have a full climate control system that is functioning. The A/C is rather cold considering just how tiny everything is in the engine bay for those days when it's just too hot to roll around with the windows down.

Under the hood is where it all comes together. Powered by the thundering 1 liter MA10S you've got a massive 51hp and 55tq at your beck and call. The little pint-sized four-cylinder has no issues with getting you up to highway speeds, though it is more at home around town. These were designed to be efficient runabouts, not a massive GT car after all. That's part of the charm of these little guys, you simply want to be seen in it not blowing by everyone. With only 76K verified miles the Pao is quick to fire up and has a rather unique tone to it, but what else would you expect from this little guy. Paired with a 3-speed automatic makes this a blast around town, even if it is just running errands. The suspension is well built for soaking up bumps, ensuring a pleasant afternoon cruise. Thanks to the techs in the back the ride has been improved with a new set of front springs as well. While they were at new tires sit at all four corners and a typical oil change was done. The Pao turns heads everywhere it goes and is assured to make a fuss every time you leave it in a parking lot. You will have to field more than your fair share of questions from inquisitive passerby's but that's half the fun of these! For those of us who love to stand out in a crowd then the Pao is your perfect companion!
