Exterior Overview
Once prolific both in Japan and at our dealership, the supply of honest, well-sorted R32’s is far from abundant as we trudge through the back half of the decade. Our 1989 is a fine example of the chassis, cherry-picked by our staff and in above average condition overall. Finished in Super Clear Red (AH3) this coupe boasts unmolested cosmetics, and is set off by a factory rear spoiler and tasteful gloss black side mirrors. The 93k miles on the clock are verified and documented too, and save for a prior replacement of the right rear quarter panel there isn’t much to scrutinize about the condition, as this Skyline has one of the cleanest undercarriages we’ve come across in recent history. Backed by a tried and true turbocharged RB20, this R32 is fresh off a recent service and ready to serve as your next daily driver, weekend warrior, or car show cruiser. It goes without saying the Skyline is a Japanese Classic, but this one is an exceptional example!

Interior Overview
This GTS-t’s cabin is in good shape overall, and we’d consider it above average compared to most R32’s. It’s surprising to think the design is well over 30 years old, as the power amenities function like new, the materials are all soft to the touch, and it’s comfortable and ergonomic for the driver. The seats are upholstered in a plush grey cloth, which is durable and has resisted any major rips, stains, or tears. It complements the black vinyl dash nicely, which has managed to avoid the typical dash bubble and distortion that commonly plagues these models. Even the door cards are chip and scuff free, and the OEM leather wrapped steering wheel and shift lever are the only areas that show an iota of wear. The center stack frames still-functional OEM audio, and a digital automatic climate control system that was quite ahead of its time. We have the A/C fully serviced so it blows cold, and hot heat isn’t too far behind in case you want to cruise this coupe year round. For fans of natural ventilation, both power windows unfurl and close rapidly, and power locks and electric folding side mirrors assist daily use tremendously. The remaining interior materials are in good shape, including the headliner and carpets beneath, which are protected by OEM mats. The factory spare is intact, and if we really had to scrutinize anything the rear door cards have delaminated in some spots. Otherwise, this cabin exceeds expectations for being over three decades old.

Mechanical Overview
The RB20DET engine is a well-engineered powerplant, and a perfect mate for this rear-drive sport coupe. With plenty of parts support available here stateside, we’ve done some necessary maintenance to get this one up to snuff for the road ahead. It cranks over with haste thanks to a new 12v battery, and the valve cover gaskets, oil, and oil filter were changed as well, buttoning up any unwanted leaks of lubricant. For a bit of a preemptive tune up, six new spark plugs were installed, and a new engine air filter helps the RB breathe freely. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a smooth automatic gearbox, and we had the transmission control unit professionally rebuilt to ensure shifts are seamless. The factory suspension is comfortable and compliant, and we installed new front caster arms to keep handling predictable and on-point. The power steering is nicely weighted and direct, and the brakes come to a screeching halt if needed. The Factory alloys are wrapped in brand-new Falken rubber. Road noise is to a minimum and they deliver plenty of grip when needed!
