Toyota midship staple, the MR2, was built from the mid-'80s to the mid-2000s. These are known for their exotic drivetrain layout, bulletproof reliability, and low cost of ownership. The SW20 represented the second iteration of the vehicle, and this 1994 example is finished in a dashing Super Red (3E5) and is offered with only 136K verified miles. The body is in good shape other than some light dings, scuffs, and chips associated with normal use. The version three 3S-GTE is as prized as the world-class handling, making this Toyota coupe a sure-fire Japanese classic.

The interior is in wonderful shape and it's clear that this MR2 was loved in its prior life. For originality's sake, we have even included the Japanese owner's manual and OEM plush carpet floor mats. The dash has been well cared for and is neither cracked or discolored. The seats are done is a durable gray cloth and don't show the normal signs of wear you'd expect from a vehicle of this age. They are comfortable for long drives and lack any major rips stains or tears. The OEM audio functions properly and the speakers are powered properly and still retain a fair amount of clarity. The auto climate system works fine and we have recharged the A/C for summer. The plastics and carpets are above average shape and the door cards are still tightly upholstered and lack delamination. The T-Tops are removable, but when up, make the cockpit seem much larger by way of the interior light they let in.

Mounted between the two axles, behind the driver, sits Toyota's storied 1998cc turbo four-cylinder. Upgraded in this generation to create more low-end torque and higher horsepower, the mill sounds great and feels strong. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service, the engine requires no scheduled maintenance for another three thousand miles. Startup occurs quickly, and the four-banger jolts to life thanks to a new 12V battery installed here stateside. The exhaust note is a bit throatier than stock as a free-flowing FGK unit has replaced the factory one. Acceleration is brisk, and the lightweight two-door gets moving up to freeway speeds with ease. The five-speed manual transmission works as it should, devoid of any hitch or grind. Through the twisties, handling is flat and the steering is connected. Several suspension revisions were made over earlier production MR2's to make the handling more stable and predictable. Regular roads and the irregularities that come with them, are no match for the Cusco adjustable dampers which take care of large and small imperfections without a sweat. The chassis is tied together even more with a rear strut tower brace. Five-spoke alloys complete the look, and the front two are shod with new all-season rubber, mounted and balanced by one of our trained technicians.

This MR2 is the real deal. With a deep well of power, manual tranny, and rewarding handling, this JDM Toyota can be yours today!
