Exterior Overview
The J95 Series Land Cruiser is a hidden gem. With more space than a Hilux Surf and a heavy emphasis placed on refinement, these affordable trucks are an incredible overall value. This 1999 is finished in a lovely Sukuza Gray (LX7N/H0) and set off by an OEM bashbar, a rare OEM spare tire cover, and 17″ refinished alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in fine shape, and this 4×4 is fresh off a recent service. Offered with only 93k verified and documented miles, this rig has loads of life left in it. Ideal as a pavement-pounding daily driver, capable commuter, or wicked weekend playtoy, this terrific Toyota does everything well. Safe, reliable, and easy to maintain, this TZ model is a certified Japanese Classic.
Interior Overview
This eight-seater is ideal for families on the go and adventurous types. ABS and dual SRS front airbags are standard equipment, which is a relief when carrying precious cargo. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and a trick OEM field monitor stands tall, front and center. It delivers information about the outside conditions such as the direction of travel, ambient temperature, and even includes a clinometer for your off-road escapades. Pilots of all sizes can find the ideal driving position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support. For those who plan to enjoy this rig year-round, an automatic climate system is within arm’s reach. Rear occupants have their own controls, and the A/C and heat work properly. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the windows all power down with the press of a button and the rear quarter glass butterflies outward to supplement airflow. Other electric niclitues include power folding side mirrors and power locks. The OEM TV audio works well in typical Toyota fashion, and can sufficiently drown out your kids sitting behind you! The tan upholstery is in good shape and lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The matching material can be found in the door cards. The second row can split fold, and slide forward to accommodate larger cargo, and the third row can be completely removed or stowed up against the d-pillar. The carpets and headliner are in good shape, and aside from a non-operational sunroof and some steering wheel wear it’s hard to complain about the cabin.
Mechanical Overview
Under the skin, this is really just a 4Runner. Even the engine is the same as our domestic offerings, making parts and service a snap. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.4L churns to life care of a new 12V battery. It sounds healthy as a horse, as one of our trained techs has installed a new catback exhaust. A new fuel filter and spark plugs work to maximize power output, and we replaced the valve cover gaskets, cam plugs, and half moon seals to ensure the oil level stays full. The quad cam mill is linked to a stout automatic gearbox. Power is fed through a torque-on-demand 4WD system. For sticky situations, a center locker can be engaged, as can a low range. It accelerates well and gets up to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat. It also slows down confidently, and the ABS brakes have new pads and rotors on the front axle. We also rehabbed the steering system. New steering rack bushings and front swaybar links were installed, and the Prado drives straight as an arrow. The suspension offers loads of ground clearance and is comfortable over rougher pavement. The gunmteal colored wheels are wrapped in new 31″ Falken rubber. Freshly aligned, the new tires will provide all the grip you’ll ever need for tens of thousands of miles to come and match the tough guy aesthetic. Turn key and ready to rock, this lovable Land Cruiser is a practical, collectible, and trusty steed that won’t let you down.
