Interior Overview
The cabin is in good shape and was cared for in Japan. It includes the option for leather seats, which are rare and desirable. The light colored cow hides are in good shape overall and are embroidered with the fleur de lis, alluding to the Chamonix mountain range. The middle row can swivel 180 degrees to face the rear, which the kids always like! The dashboard is sculpted and in good shape lacking cracks or fading. Dual SRS airbags are standard for those who value safety, too. The OEM audio below works like a charm, as does the climate control system, which regulates heat and cooling within the cabin. The side glass pops outwards, and the power windows can unfurl if you prefer a more natural breeze. The headliner is in good nick, as are the carpets and door cards. A tilt-adjustable steering column and power locks and mirrors make daily use more enjoyable. Cup holders are abundant as is space, and the flat loading floor is ideal for cargo loading and capacity.
Mechanical Overview
The Delica is a go anywhere, do anything type of van. It is powered, surprisingly, by an engine sold here in the US, the 6G72. This V6 is fresh off an oil and filter service, and churns to life care of a new 12V battery. One of our trained techs gave this six-cylinder a refresh. A new valve cover gasket and six new spark plugs to start things off on the right foot. Best of all, we performed the most expensive preventative maintenance service there is! A new timing belt and water pump were installed. To maintain proper thermal management, we replaced the radiator with a new one. We always perform a coolant flush and install a new thermostat when doing this job, as well. Lastly, we replaced the weary old cam seals with new ones while we were in there. This 6G72 feels hearty as a horse and pulls strong to redline. The automatic gearbox shifts properly and sends power to the rear axle or both, depending on the driver’s preference. For your off-road escapades, a low range and center locker can be engaged. The suspension offers loads of ground clearance and a decent ride quality. New lower control arm bushings and new trailing arm bushings were replaced for state inspection. We also slapped on a set of front and rear brake pads and resurfaced the front rotors so this hauler could slow down confidently. The power steering is light yet direct, and we have improved it with a set of new steering rack bushings. New front sway bar bushings were also installed before it was aligned. New 31″ Falken tires have been mounted and balanced at each corner. The all terrains not only look mean but will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and reduce road noise. Turn key and ready to rock, this all-weather steed would be the perfect year-round van!
