The cabin is in above-average shape and includes rare leather upholstery and a killer Alpine USDM headunit paired with upgraded Pioneer front speakers. Dual SRS airbags sit atop the dash which lacks any cracking or fading. The dual-zone climate control pumps frozen A/C into the cabin and heat is on demand for later in the year. The driver benefits from an electrically adjustable steering column to find the ideal driving position and of course, the two front seats are powered, as are the seat belt adjusters. Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power windows make daily use more enjoyable and this one even includes keyless entry. The platform this Celsior is built upon is sturdy and refined. You could say the same for the engine, which was reworked for this generation to be more powerful and lighter. The 4.0L V8 is fresh off an oil and filter service and whirls to life with the twist of the key. A new engine air filter aids the V8 to breathe freely and runs silky smooth. It's linked to a smooth shifting automatic which sends power to the rear wheels, as it should in a proper luxury saloon. To refresh the powertrain, one of our trained techs resealed the lower transmission pan and the 1UZ-FEs oil pan. The Celsior quickly builds up to highway speeds when the throttle is applied and sustained interstate cruising is what this car was designed to do. The lowered suspension adds some firmness to the ride quality, but for how low it is, the trade-off is worth it. A new front right upper ball joint and fresh alignment keep the Celsior pointed straight as an arrow. The ABS brakes bite down hard and can stop this heavyweight in a jiffy. We just replaced the rear brake pads which will add some peace of mind for the new owner. We didn't stop there and mounted and balanced new tires at each corner so that this Toyota can enjoy tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip for a long time to come.
