We may be speaking with a bit of bias, but you'd be hard pressed to find another classic sedan as dependable, comfortable, and modern as Toyota's second generation Aristo. Available stateside as the GS300, our 1998 Aristo S300 offers many benefits of its meager 93k verified and documented miles. This saloon boasts a squeaky clean interior, and a fresh service performed in-house by our trained technicians, so you can drive it right off the lot! The Black Pearl (202) exterior is another bonus as the Aristo is seldom seen in this finish. This Vertex Edition is set off by a factory rear wing, a TRD grille, OEM rainguards, and a sleek set of polished factory 16" alloys. Save for some expected imperfections in the paint, the exterior shows well overall and has clearly held up well over the years. A sport sedan champion definitive of Japan's success in the late 90's, it's no surprise why we label the Aristo a genuine Japanese Classic.
In accordance with the exterior, the interior is in above average shape overall, and is surprisingly modern given the age of the vehicle. Plenty of power amenities and accessibility options are on tap and premium materials were utilized as well, down to the sport cloth upholstery on the stock bucket seats. Both driver and passenger benefit from power adjustable seats and dual front and side airbags bolster the cabin up front in case of any emergencies. To dial in the ideal driving position, the steering column is also 4 way adjustable and the driver can activate a bit of extra lumbar support if needed. The seating surfaces show well overall, and the complementary black vinyl on the dash and door cards are no worse for the wear, resisting any commonly seen defects outside of an adhesive spot atop the gauge hood. Dual zone automatic climate control is standard, and cold A/C works as intended for these blazing hot summer months. OEM JBL Audio works like a charm and the sound quality is above average for a factory system. All four power windows are automatic, and the power locks and folding mirrors add a bit of accessibility for daily drives. New for 1998, sonar parking sensors are surprisingly responsive and come in handy for squeezing in tight spots. For a people-hauler, the Aristo is sufficient and three additional passengers can occupy the rear without issue. The headliner and carpets have withstood any serious wear and tear, and overall this cockpit should do a fine job at pleasing whoever occupies it.
The 2JZ-GE is a familiar sight for any stateside Toyota enthusiast, and fortunately, the drivetrain of this Aristo is nearly identical to our models sold in the US, so you never have to fret over parts availability or servicing! We've handled the initial check in on this beauty, and the JZS160 is fresh off an oil and filter service to get you on track for future maintenance schedules. Aiding ignition is a freshly installed 12v battery which was also mounted up to properly test the alternator. We've even gone through the legwork of performing a full timing belt and water pump service and replacing the rest of the serpentine belts to ensure you're taken care of for the next 10 years or 100,000 kilometers. To ensure this 2J stays well lubricated, we've addressed the front main seal, cam seals, and buttoned things up with new valve cover gaskets up top. Lastly, a new fuel pump and filter deliver reliable fueling for your 25 year old engine. With the maintenance performed she runs right as rain, as any proper Aristo should. As a highway commuter this one is buttery smooth and the automatic gearbox feels familiar and poised. We've even replaced a front right lower ball joint and an axle seal in the right rear to get the drivetrain in compliance. The power steering is easy to navigate, and new front and rear brake pads and rotors offer reliable stopping power in conjunction with the fresh Falken rubber on all four corners. We've even performed a fresh alignment to ensure this one tracks straight and smooth after the maintenance!
