Spacious, refined, and capable, the J95 Land Cruiser Prado's are wonderful to drive on and off the beaten path. This eight-passenger model is equipped with a torquey turbodiesel and full-time 4WD. Finished in Toyota's popular Desert Dune over Gray Metallic two-tone (K03), the body is in good nick overall, aside from some light chips, dings, and scratches associated with normal use. Prior repairs in Japan include a replacement tailgate. The large OEM brushguard, epic OEM graphics, and factory rainguards add a bit of curb appeal and authenticity. Offered with a mere 155k verified and documented miles, this recently serviced rig would make for a fantastic daily driver or killer weekend trail rig. Safe, efficient, and durable this clean Land Cruiser is a certified Japanese Classic.
The cabin was cared for in a prior life, and it shows when you have a chance to see it in person. Sure it has some light wear, like typical cupholder crack and some minor stains on the carpet and seat bottoms, but as a whole, it's tough to nitpick this one. It also comes with some desirable options, like third-row seating and a function electric sunroof. The driver can see far above traffic thanks to the ride height, and the dash lacks any cracking or fading. It houses dual-front SRS airbags which will give the driver some added reassurance when behind the wheel. All the switchgear is at hand and easy to read, and an OEM audio system fills the cabin with tunes. A field monitor mounted front and center allows those inside to keep an eye on altitude, direction of travel, and barometric pressure among other things. To make daily use manageable, electric folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work like a charm. The door cards match the upholstery and really pop in person. The textured upholstery is durable too and lacks any major holes, rips, or tears. The headliner has withstood major abuse, as has the cargo area, and the Prado lacks any notable squeaks or rattles when on the road.
Many of the mechanicals are shared with the 3rd generation Hilux Surf so parts are readily available and can be had on the cheap. The heart of this rig is the 1KZ-TE turbodiesel. Intercooled for more power, this 3.0L is fresh off an oil and filter service. It starts up promptly thanks to two new 12v batteries and is fresh off an oil and filter service. The powerplant idles with confidence and is mated to a slick-shifting automatic gearbox. For inclement weather, the driver can engage a locking differential, and a low gear, to climb out of the muck if need be. The full-time 4WD system is bolstered by the additional grip provided by new 31" Falken all-terrain tires. We even replaced the spare and the new rubber will last the new owner for tens of thousands of miles. The brakes feel confident and the power steering is light yet on point. The suspension offers a good deal of ground clearance and is unphased even by large potholes. The brakes are also responsive and the platform overall is unflappable as they come.
