2001 Toyota Cygnus UZJ100

The Cygnus was the opulent Land Cruiser in Japan. Optioned like our Lexus LX470’s, they deliver the off-road capability of a regular Cruiser, with a premium cabin containing loads of electric amenities. This White Crystal Pearl (064) example is quite the 4×4, and is set off by a polished OEM rear bumper guard, snazzy custom side graphics, LED tail lamps, an OEM chrome license plate garnish, OEM spoiler, OEM rainguards and brand new 17″ ICON alloys. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scrapes, the body is in good shape, and this terrific Toyota is fresh off a comprehensive service that includes a new timing belt and water pump. Offered with only 96k verified and documented miles on the clock, this lovable Landy has logged a fraction of the use of the typical USDM examples. The cabin is expansive and includes loads of optional equipment, and a few upgrades too. Drivers of all sizes can find the ideal seating position, courtesy of an electric tilt and telescoping steering column. Both front occupants share powered heated seats and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. If you want to enjoy some natural ventilation, you’re in luck. The rear quarter glass pops outward with the press of a button, which was only offered on Cygnus models. The side windows are all automatic, and a massive panoramic moonroof tilts and retracts. The A/C works like a charm, too, as does the heat. Above the climate controls lies a touchscreen Pionner headunit with integrated Bluetooth. It sounds great and supplements the V8 soundtrack from under the bonnet. The tan leather cowhides are in good nick, and lack any major damage aside from minor stress cracks. They’ve almost certainly fared much better than comparable US market models! The middle row can recline, split fold, and tumble forward to accommodate large cargo. The third row jump seats increase the seating capacity to eight. When not in use, they can be stowed tidily against the D-pillars, or removed completely. The carpets, headliner, and door cards have resisted major abuse and, aside from some steering wheel wear, its hard to critique the cabin much at all! Even the OEM carpet mats, owner’s manual and original maintenance booklets are included with the purchase.

This body on frame beast is one tough nut to crack, and the 4.7L V8 is equally robust. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the DOHC mill springs to life immediately, courtesy of a brand new 12v battery. A new engine air filter was chucked in first thing, and one of our trained techs addressed the leaking valve cover gasket by replacing them. The most expensive preventive maintenance item was performed in our shop to get you up to date on future maintenance schedules. A new timing belt and water pump service was performed, and we flushed the coolant out as you might expect. The 2UZ pulls hard to redline and the transmission shifts smoothly under power. A Full-Time 4WD system underpins this beast and a center locking differential and low range can be engaged when you take the path less traveled. To put the power to the ground properly, we also performed a rear differential fluid service. The AHC suspension is in good shape and has been bolstered with new front lower ball joints and front swaybar endlinks. It rides well and the long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well. A fresh alignment will ensure the brand new Falkens last as long as possible. The power steering is light and easy to articulate, and the ABS disc brakes feel confident when reeling in this beast from highway speeds.
