Exterior Overview
Small in stature, but the consummate overachiever, this 2001 bB is a true Japanese Classic. Its iconic styling, low cost of ownership, and surprisingly spacious cabin are reasons why this platform is beloved globally. Finished in a classic Toyota Black (202), this hatch is set off by an OEM wing, OEM rainguards, a factory optional grille, and chrome tail lamp garnishes. Aside from some scuffs, dings, chips, and loss of gloss, the paint is in fine shape, and this little runabout is fresh off a comprehensive service. Interior Overview
With the wheels pushed out to the corners, interior room is maximized. Access inside is made more seamless thanks to functional keyless entry. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column, and the JDM cars are produced with a front bench seat and column shifter! Power folding mirrors, electric locks, and power mirrors all function in typical Toyota fashion, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack includes an updated BOSS audio system with integrated Bluetooth to blast your tunes. Below, a simple-to-use climate control unit can crank out cold A/C or piping hot heat. If you prefer more natural ventilation, a massive panoramic moonroof retracts for additional airflow. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. A sizable glovebox can be used for storage, and the OEM owners’ manuals and maintenance booklets are safely stowed inside. The seats are trimmed in a black and gray textured cloth. The material lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and is mirrored in the rear door cards. The headliner is in good shape, as are the carpets. Interior modifications included terrarium-themed illuminated door trim that is sure to be a conversation starter, and a factory optional color changing instrument panel. This example even has factory sonar parking sensors that work like a charm! All in all, it’s hard to complain about the cabin, and the condition should make the next owner happy!
Mechanical Overview
Talk to any xB owners, and they will likely rave about the 1NZ-FE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1.5L churns to life with the twist of the key, courtesy of a new 12V battery. We flushed the coolant and replaced it with new stuff, which won’t need to be done for another four years. The four-banger is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that sends power to the front wheels. It shifts like a champ, and this hatchback gets up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. It’s a comfortable cruiser, and we have completely refreshed the suspension. New front and rear shocks were installed, and we also added new front sway bar end links and rear trailing arm bushings so the bB could ace its VA state safety inspection. The brakes feel confident, and the power steering is light and easy to articulate. Lastly, we wrapped the factory wheels in brand-new tires. Freshly aligned the Toyota tracks straight as an arrow, and the new rubber quells road noise and will provide all the grip required for tens of thousands of miles to come.
