Exterior Overview
The second-generation Subaru Impreza dominated the sport compact boom of the early 2000’s in the USA. It was agile, responsive, and an absolute beast on snow or gravel. The WRX received in our domestic market was a beloved model, but truthfully, it didn’t have the stones to compete with the WRX STi sold in Japan. Our 2001 STi Version 7 is a terrific example of everything we never received stateside, and a true performance bargain. It’s also fashioned in true period-correct couture, with full Chargespeed FRP aero adorning the World Rally Blue (02C) exterior. A chargespeed front bumper includes rare FRP brake ducts for a bit of form and function, and a massive chargespeed rear wing sits atop the decklid. Set off by aftermarket tail lamps, Optional OEM carbon side markers, and 18″ aftermarket alloys, the aesthetic is undeniable, and the cosmetics are in good shape save for some minor paint blemishes, chips, and nicks. Best of all, the 97k miles on the clock are verified, documented, and are bound to put most US Subarus to shame. Modified with Japan’s best, this is a one of a kind Japanese Classic, and a great driver overall!
Interior Overview
Completely restyled from the first generation models, this GDB’s interior feels decidedly modern, and was designed with performance in mind. Blue Alcantara sport seats are thickly bolstered, and the same blue color-keyed upholstery extends throughout the rear seats and door cards. Those with a keen eye for detail may notice the upgraded driver’s seat, which comes from a Version 9 example. For being 25 years young, the fabric is in good shape overall, with no discernible rips, stains, or tears. Dual SRS airbags were made standard, and the sculpted dash allows you to obtain a clear view of the pavement, dirt, or slush ahead. The center stack features factory optional carbon trim, tried and true automatic climate control, and upgraded USDM BOSS audio. Bluetooth integration is handy too, so you can play your own tunes. Ideal as a seasonal sports car, cold A/C and hot heat are fully functional. To the right of the steering wheel, controls for headlight height adjustment and a trick factory intercooler sprayer are on hand. The driver gains access to an aftermarket MOMO steering wheel, as well as independent height adjustment for the steering column and seat base. The rear bench is spacious enough to squeeze in a couple of additional passengers, and the remaining materials are in good shape, from the headliner to the carpets, which are protected by plush OEM mats. Power windows, locks, and power folding mirrors all work like a charm and even a rare OEM optional shift knob was retained!
