This fabulous four-door has it all. Appealing aesthetics, reliable running gear, and prime investment potential.
Exterior Overview
Nissan went out guns blazing for its last iteration of the R chassis Skyline, and this R34 GT is an excellent testament to the chassis. It’s iconic, easy to maintain and modify, and is plenty practical too, if you’re considering models like this 2000 sedan. Finished in Sonic Silver Metallic (KR4), this R34 is set off by a stylish IMPUL front bumper. It sports a reliable manual rear-drive layout, and most importantly has traveled a meager 32k miles since new. Mechanically stock, cosmetically crisp, and in great structural shape, there’s little to criticize about the exterior, save for a few minor rock chips and dings. This fabulous four-door has it all. Appealing aesthetics, reliable running gear, and prime investment potential. All this Japanese Classic really needs is a passionate new owner!
Interior Overview
For debuting in Y2K, the interior feels surprisingly modern, and is a cut above the brand’s stateside offerings of the time. It’s finished in a durable sport mesh, and has plenty of power switchgear to make daily driving simple. Power windows, locks, and mirrors work well, in true Nissan fashion, and the latter also electronically fold to keep any passersby from dinging your mirrors once parked. The center stack features all the essentials. Digital automatic climate control is ripe with cold A/C and hot heat, and an adjacent OEM headunit with an optional disc changer contribute to the factory fresh goodness. The dash materials are in good shape overall, and the same can be said for the condition of the seating surfaces, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and carpets beneath. If we were to nitpick anything, 25 years of use has yielded some wear to the shifter trim, but on a vehicle in this condition with this mileage, it’s difficult to nitpick overall.
Mechanical Overview
The RB25 is a prolific engine. Efficient, and easy to modify and maintain, it’s easy to see why enthusiasts flock to these punchy inline sixes when it comes to performance. This R34 was given a once-over here at the shop, and cranks over with haste, care of a new USDM 12v battery. A new fuel filter gave this 2.5 a bit of a tune up, and it benefits from an oil and filter service, as well as a new engine air cleaner. With the maintenance performed, it tackled its first road test like a champ. The 5-speed manual transmission slots in and out of gear nicely, and power is sent straight to the rear wheels. The suspension is comfortable and compliant, and we also installed new front tension arms and swaybar bushings so it would ace state safety inspection. The power steering is direct, light, and the brakes are responsive. Equipped with factory ABS, they work in conjunction with the Dunlop rubber to keep handling predictable, comfortable, and nimble for tens of thousands of miles to come!
