Exterior Overview
If you want to rule the roost and own a Japanese Classic that’s collectable, fun to drive, and easy to modify, you need to take a hard look at the S15 Silvia. This 2000 Spec R is a particularly appealing example, as it’s remained well-kept and unmolested throughout the past few decades. Finished in a snazzy Black Pearl (KH3), this Silvia is devoid of aftermarket fluff, and is set off only by a pair of factory Xenon headlamps, some OEM rainguards, and a sleek set of silver Enkei RPF1 alloys. Best of all, the 110k miles on the clock are verified, documented, and indicate this example was cared for well in a prior life. Save for a few slight cosmetic defects, the cosmetics are in good shape overall, and this rear drive coupe would make for a perfectly preserved garage queen, weekend back road warrior, or even a stunning show build. Turn key and ready to roll, this legendary chassis can be yours today!

Interior Overview
Set off by futuristic styling cues, functional power switchgear, and durable materials, the S15’s cockpit design was leaps and bounds better than the Silvias that preceded it. Nissan continued to utilize the same design language throughout the 2000’s, so it’s clear this cabin was ahead of its time. Upholstered in a durable mesh material, the seats have resisted rips and tears, and are in good shape overall. The same can be said for the condition of the dashboard, although there are a few minor spots of fading atop the cover. The center stack is close by, and frames a touchscreen Panasonic head unit. It features Bluetooth integration to pump in your tunes, and the interface feels modern. Adjacent to the radio, digital automatic climate control works like a charm, pumping out cold A/C and hot heat on command. If you prefer natural airflow, controls for the power windows work like a charm. Also operable are power locks and power folding side mirrors to assist daily use. The rear bench may not be accommodating to our larger American frames, but the seat back folds down to expand access into the trunk. The anthracite headliner gives the cabin a premium feel, and the carpets match its condition. With any 25 year old cabin, perfection isn’t possible, and we did want to note the factory boost gauge no longer reads, and the steering wheel is missing its leather wrap. Still, that’s a bit of nitpicking on this cabin. It’s clear this example was cherished in Japan, and to back up that sentiment, we’ve included a stack of original literature from Japan, including the owner’s manual and maintenance booklet.

Mechanical Overview
This Silvia follows a foolproof formula for unparalleled driving enjoyment. The tried and true SR20DET powerplant is mated to a close-ratio six speed gearbox, which throws power to the rear wheels. We’ve given the mechanicals a hefty overhaul to protect your investment and get you driving from day one! For starters, we installed a new 12v battery to aid ignition. A standard oil and filter service was performed, and we installed a new engine air filter and fuel filter to keep the 2.0T free of contaminants. Up top, we installed a new valve cover gasket, replacing the half moon seals while we were in there to keep the SR tight and tidy. The transmission shifts smoothly, and a new clutch assembly and transmission output seal ensures reliable power delivery. Around town, or on the interstate, this Spec R turns heads, but mountain passes, winding esses, and country backroads are where the platform comes to life. New aftermarket coilovers and front caster arm bushings keep the chassis planted in the twisties, and we performed a fresh alignment to make the most of the corrected suspension geometry. The ABS brakes bring this lightweight coupe to a screeching halt, and the RPF1’s are wrapped in brand new rubber. Knee deep in tread, they’ll last a long while and keep you glued to the pavement when necessary!
