Exterior Overview
Owning a new car is treacherous. Sensors, computers, programming, and sky-high dealer labor rates are part of the experience. Wouldn’t it be great to avoid these pratfalls, while still piloting something luxurious, modern, and cool? Our 1999 Aristo would fit the bill, and this naturally aspirated example costs little to maintain, and has a reputation for its nearly bulletproof design. Finished in a lovely Diamond White (051), this sedan is set off by OEM rainguards, rear privacy tint, and a subtle rear spoiler. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the body is in good shape, and the spacious and ergonomic cabin includes rare and coveted black cowhides. Fresh off a recent service, this executive saloon is offered with a mere 67k verified and documented miles on the clock. Ideal as a turn key daily driver, relaxing road tripper, or versatile VIP-themed build, this certified Japanese Classic is easy to own, and affordable to purchase.
Interior Overview
Toyota made some wonderful strides in designing interiors during the late 90’s. This JZS160 has aged gracefully, and the swooping lines and clean, flowing contouring tie into the exterior styling. For those who value safety, Toyota made ABS brakes standard for this model and the same can be said for dual front and side SRS airbags. The driver benefits from an electric adjustable steering column and both front chairs are powered adjustable, too. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the center stack is close by and within reach. The digital dual zone climate control system is easy to operate and cold A/C or piping hot heat can be utilized for those living in seasonal climates. A new cabin air filter was installed while we were performing the mechanical reconditioning. The adjacent OEM audio works like a charm and delivers a soundtrack to complement your commute. The leather shows only minor wear and adds an upscale feel to the cabin. Driver and passenger will get toasty with some immediacy as this sedan was spec’d with heated front seats. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards and a few wood accents dot the cabin to break up the dark plastics. Power folding mirrors, keyless entry, power locks, and power windows all function in typical Toyota fashion making daily use more enjoyable. Even the owner’s manuals, maintenance booklets, and factory carpet mats are included with the purchase of this vehicle!
Mechanical Overview
Below the bonnet, the beloved 2JZ-GE provides propulsion for this trusty steed. Equipped with variable valve timing, this silky smooth 3.0L makes decent power and won’t gulp fuel like the turbocharged version. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the inline six springs to life care of a new 12v battery. A new engine air cleaner allows the 2J to breathe freely and a brand-new radiator was installed to ensure proper thermal efficiency. One of our trained technicians resealed the oil pan while it was up on the lift to ensure the oil level stays on full. The straight six is linked to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts like a dream. Power is sent to the rear wheels and this Aristo sails up to and above legal highway speeds without breaking a sweat. The suspension is supple and insulates the cabin over large and small potholes alike. New front lower ball joints and new front caster arm bushings were installed prior to this car’s Virginia state safety inspection. We freshly aligned the platform to maximize tire life and the power steering is light and on point. The ABS brakes bite down hard, and stop this sled in an instant. We replaced front rotors and pads, which will last for a good long time to come and grip is handled by four new all-season tires mounted and balanced at each corner. Turn key and ready to roll, this terrific Toyota is practical, inexpensive to operate, and drives even better than it looks.
