Interior Overview
The highly stylized cabin is a departure from our muted 4Runner cockpits. Access inside is made more seamless with factory keyless entry, and a few extra spare keys are also afforded to the new owner of this truck. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach, and we have installed a new BOSS USDM headunit with Bluetooth integration. It pumps in the tunes just like the automatic climate above doles out cool A/C and piping hot heat. Other electric amenities that make daily use more enjoyable include power rear and side windows, electric locks, and power mirrors. The seats are trimmed in a jazzy blue and black cloth. The same material is mirrored in the door cards. The upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears and appears to have been cared for overseas. The driver can find the optimal driving position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column and adjustable lumbar support. Those riding in the rear row gain 4-way reclining seat backs. The rear seat backs also split fold and can tumble forward to create a flat loading floor capable of accepting larger cargo. Even the owner’s manuals and maintenance booklets are on hand and included with the purchase of this fine vehicle.
Mechanical Overview
Mechanically, most everything is shared with our domestic 4Runner. While the diesel wasn’t offered stateside, you can always have us source parts for you if you purchase this vehicle from our dealership! Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 1KZ-TE churns to life immediately with the twist of the key. A new fuel filter keeps unwanted contaminants out of the four-banger, and the engine feels healthy as a horse. It’s linked to a strong automatic gearbox that shifts like a champ. We aim to keep things that way, and we replaced the transmission fluid to get you on track for future maintenance schedules. The pilot can choose between 2WD and 4WD on the fly, and for off-road excursions, a low range and center locker can be utilized. We refreshed the transfercase with a new front output seal and reinforced the driveline with new inner CV boot clamps. The Hilux gets down when you depress the throttle and sails up to American highway speeds without breaking a sweat. It slows down with confidence courtesy of new front brake pads and standard ABS. The power steering is light and easy to articulate. This truck tracks straight as an arrow thanks to a fresh alignment, and grip is handled by four brand new Falken 31″ tires. The suspension offers tons of ground clearance, and the long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well. Turn key and ready to rock, this Surf drives like a million bucks, and we feel the new owner is likely to agree!
