Exterior Overview
Long live the Hilux Surf, proclaimed the team at Toyota! The proof is in the pudding as this legendary model is currently entering its sixth generation and has been produced for over four decades. The third-generation platform is one of the most beloved, and this 1999 is a wonderful example. Finished in a sporty Millennium Silver (K73), this rig is set off by black 16″ refinished OEM alloys and some subtle OEM rainguards. Aside from a few minor dings, chips, and scuffs, the paint is in good condition, and this SSR-X is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 129k verified and documented miles on the clock, this terrific Toyota has loads of life left in it! Reliable, safe, and easy to service, this Modellista edition includes a special interior and a few OEM and aftermarket upgrades. Highly collectible, this center-lock truck would make for a capable overlander, fun family hauler, or determined daily driver. A Japanese Classic, this special Surf is one you won’t want to miss out on!

Interior Overview
The cabin is spacious, nicely equipped, and includes a few safety features and upgrades. What steals the show are the seats, upholstered a suede cloth. They are in above-average shape and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The Hilux Surf moniker is embroidered in red, which stands out and looks fantastic. The door cards also have the same material, which ties in nicely. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading, and dual SRS airbags are standard equipment. The automatic digital climate control system blows cold A/C and piping hot heat depending on your preference. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the rear hatch glass and side windows power down. Power locks and mirrors both work, making daily use more enjoyable. A freshly installed BOSS USDM audio system pipes in the tunes. It also includes Bluetooth capability so you can keep your hands safely on the wheels and your eyes ahead of you. The rear occupants benefit from 4-way reclining seat backs, which also split fold. When more cargo space is required, the rear seats tumble forward, creating a flat loading floor. The headliner and carpets are in fine shape, and as a whole, it’s really hard to nitpick this cabin.

Mechanical Overview
This body-on-frame brute is powered by an equally tough engine. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the chain driven 3RZ-FE springs to life with the twist of the key, courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter and new fuel filter keep the 2.7L running right as rain, and power is fed through a stout automatic gearbox. The pilot can choose between 2WD and 4WD on the fly, and for off-road excursions, a low range and center locking differential can be engaged. The four-banger gets up to highway merging speeds with ease and can slow down with confidence thanks to standard ABS. We have improved the braking system with new rotors and pads on the front axle and new shoes on the rear. The suspension can handle the rigors of daily use and abuse and is predictable and sporty for a truck. The power steering system received a full overhaul from one of our trained technicians. The steering rack was rebuilt with new seals and to ensure the alignment went smoothly, we replaced the inner and outer tie rods. We also installed new rear axle seals. The 16″ wheels are shod is freshly mounted 31″ Falken rubber. The new tires reduce road noise, look mean, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. Turn key and ready to rock, this special Hilux Surf is a truly prolific truck.
