The Land Cruiser is an absolute tank. It's unfazed by harsh environments and rough terrain, but this vehicle is so much more.

Exterior Overview

The Land Cruiser is an absolute tank. It’s unfazed by harsh environments and rough terrain, but this vehicle is so much more. This 1998 packs a buttery smooth V8, a refined ride, a luxurious cabin with generous electric amenities, and oodles of space for friends and family. It’s also classically styled, and set off by 20″ OEM wheels, OEM rainguards, chrome mirror caps, LED tail lamps, and a stylish rear spoiler. The Warm Silver Metallic paint (1B1) is in good shape aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this 4×4 is offered with a mere 96k verified and documented miles on the ticker; and has logged a fraction of the use of the typical American example. Already equipped with a tow receiver, this terrific Toyota would be ideal to strap a travel trailer to and enjoy a weekend of camping. It would also make for a fine all-weather daily driver or a dedicated overlanding machine. Reliable, capable, and cool, this Japanese Classic is built to withstand the test of time!

Interior Overview

The cabin is expansive, seats up to five, and is in clean condition throughout. Upgrades include fitted seat covers that protect the factory tan cloth below. The dash is in great shape and lacks any cracking or fading. Dual SRS airbags are standard if you happen to be safety-conscious, and OEM cruise control assists when you want to relax. The center stack is close by and within arm’s reach, and the touchscreen climate control unit works like a charm and doles out piping hot heat and cold air conditioning. Also integrated into the screen are the audio controls, and the audio quality is clear and crisp. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column. Power folding mirrors, power locks, and power windows all work in typical Toyota fashion. The door cards and headliner are in good shape, and aside from some light carpet stains, it’s hard to complain about the cabin.

Mechanical Overview

This truck is constructed the right way, with a body-on-frame chassis. The 2UZ-FE V8 is also a design marvel, with examples regularly logging over half a million miles. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4,7L churns to life courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new radiator and a fresh coolant flush were performed too, to keep the 8 cylinder at the proper operating temperatures. As a part of our tune-up, we replaced the fuel filter and engine air filter with brand-new units. A brand new set of hood shocks shows off the heart of the beast and allows for seamless fluid and oil checks down the road. The 4.7 hums along nicely and was designed with refinement in mind. It translates virtually zero vibration into the cabin and is linked to a stout automatic that makes good use of the powerband. It shifts as it should and feeds power through a full-time 4WD system. For getting down and dirty off the beaten path, a low range and center locking differential can be utilized.  It gets up to highway merging speeds quickly, and to slow this rig down, ABS brakes are standard equipment. The power steering system was fully flushed, and there is little effort needed to articulate the steering. The suspension can handle small and large road imperfections with the utmost confidence, and the system has been refreshed with new rear swaybar endlinks and new rear upper and lower control arms. Grip is handled by 33″ Falken tires. Turn key and ready to rock, this classic cruiser is a surefire bet!
