With rally-bred DNA, the WRX wagon isn't your average family hauler by any stretch. Sure this 1998 is practical and safe, but it's the chuckable chassis and fun-to-drive nature of this GF8 that is a deal sealer. Finished in Light Silver Metallic (406) this Impreza is set off by a rare and desirable factory waist spoiler, OEM rainguards, oversized fog lamps, and an additional wing on the top of the hatch. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint is in good nick and this estate is fresh off a recent service. Having logged a scant 37k verified and documented miles, this five-seater is barely broken in, and the turn key is ready to roll. Reliable enough to be daily driven, this inspiring AWD avant is affordable and unique, to boot. Japanese Classics like this are incredible values, and we know the American buyer will surely fall in love! After all, it is what makes a Subaru, a Subaru!

The cabin is chock full of upgrades and power equipment. Updated for 1998, the cabin features new interior materials and dual SRS airbags as standard. The gauge cluster is also a new design and is more visually impactful. The dashboard lacks any cracking or fading and the driver has a clear view of the road ahead. The simple-to-use automatic climate controls are at hand, and the system blasts piping hot heat and cold A/C based on the driver's preference. Directly below is the OEM Kenwood headunit that supplies the cabin with tunes to supplement the boxer-four under the hood. The driver can find the ideal driving position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column and the MOMO OEM steering wheel is a premium feeling unit. Power windows, locks, and power-folding mirrors all work, making daily use more enjoyable. The seats are in above-average shape, and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The blue and black material is durable and the bolstering is aggressive, keeping the front occupants from sloshing about during spirited drives. The rear row tumbles forward to fold flat and also can split-fold when required. The headliner, door cards, and carpets have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse and even the OEM mats are included with the purchase.

Service is as easy as it gets on this WRX, and the 1998 wagons all featured the EJ205, the same engine as our '02 bugeye models. This 2.0L whirrs to life thanks to a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. One of our trained techs has replaced the valve cover gaskets to keep the EJ topped up on lubricant and the 2.0L feels healthy as a horse. We didn't stop there as we also resealed the transmission pan to keep the driveline running tip-top. The automatic shifts properly and sends power to both axles, thanks to Subaru's trademark symmetrical AWD. Acceleration is impressive and you don't really miss the manual that much during daily use. The suspension is perfectible and takes road imperfections with confidence. Few squeaks or rattles make their way to the cabin, and overall the Impreza feels composed and unflappable. Steering feedback is better than our USDM models and the power-assisted system is light and easy to articulate. A new front differential flush and power steering flush improve the feel even more! The ABS brakes feel tidy and the OEM alloys are all wrapped in new all-season rubber at each corner. The new tires reduce road noise and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come and quiet down the road noise. We even freshly aligned this Suby for good measure.
