1998 Granvia V6
People movers in Japan are as good as they get. These vans are safe, spec'd with legendary powertrains, and are filled with features and premium materials usually reserved for luxury vehicles. This 1998 Granvia is a special hauler, finished in a stellar Light Gray Rose (3K7) over Black two tone, and set off by color matched 16" factory alloys, a stylish rear spoiler, OEM rainguards, rare one-piece mudflap and OEM parking pole. Aside from a few light dings, chips, and scuffs the paint is in good nick and this seven-seater is fresh off a recent service. Boasting a mere 57k verified and documented miles on the clock, this V6 engine, which powers our domestic 4Runners, is barely broken in. Turn key and ready for a killer road trip, these 4WD transporters make for wonderful weekend escape vehicles and year-round daily drivers alike. Capable, affordable, practical, and unique, these terrific Toyota's are bonafide Japanese Classics to the core!
The cabin steals the show, and is spacious, and nicely appointed. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding and the dashboard lacks any cracking or fading. Dual SRS airbags are standard and add some peace of mind for those seated up front. Additionally the frontal crash structure provides more leg protection than the common cabover designs of the era. A Pioneer touchscreen headunit functions and the automatic dual zone climate control are located above. The A/C and heat works properly and rear occupants have their own controls, too. The upholstery is in above average shape and lacks any major rips, stains or tears. The tan cloth is soft to the touch and comfortable on longer trips. The middle row captains chairs have ottomans that pull out from the front seats and they can be swiveled 180 degrees to face the rear! Even the center console slides for and aft and a table butterflies outward. One of the most impressive features is the automatic sliding door, which opens and closes with the press of a button by the steering wheel. Even the rear hatch is a soft close unit. Power folding mirrors, electric locks and power windows all work as advertised making daily use even more enjoyable. A front and rear sunroof add plenty of natural light and ventilation to the cabin. The panoramic middle assembly powers open for a convertible like experience. Even the side glass pops out for an additional breeze. The headliner, door cards and carpets are in fine shape and have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major damage. Even the factory carpet mats, owners manuals, and maintenance booklets are included in the sale. Clearly cared for in a prior life, the Granvia swaddles those privileged enough to ride within the friendly confines, and the features are incredible!
These rigs are tough and hearty and are perfect for areas with unpredictable weather and rough terrain. The engine is robust and is fresh off a recent oil and filter service. The 5VZ-FE churns to life care of a new 12v battery. A new fuel filter was also installed, for good measure. To keep this 3.4L topped up on oil we replaced the valve cover gaskets with new ones. The six cylinder is linked to an automatic gearbox that suits the engine powerband nicely. Traction comes from a full time 4WD system that can handle sand, snow and mud with confidence. The power steering is light and on point and the ABS brakes confidently slow down this van with ease. The suspension is soft and handles large and small potholes without breaking a sweat. The long wheelbase pays dividends on the highway and this platform feels more stable on the freeway than a HiAce or Delica. To complete the shop work, we installed all terrain Falkens at each corner. The aesthetic of the tires matches the van nicely and most importantly they will provide tens of thousands of miles of grip to come!
