Exterior Overview
Here in the States, we love our Lexus sedans. Premium cabins, bulletproof reliability, and buttery smooth ride are all hallmarks of the brand, but in Japan, these upscale models were sold under the Toyota moniker. This 1997 Windom is nearly identical to our ES sedans, but ours has only logged 63k verified and documented miles since new. Fresh off a recent service, this V6-powered saloon is turnkey and ready to roll. Finished in a lovely Black over Gray (202) two-tone, it is adorned with a subtle set of OEM rainguards. Aside from a few light dings, scratches, and chips, this five-seater is no worse for the wear and would make for a killer commuter, frugal family cruiser, or unique weekend warrior. Affordable, easy to service, and designed to last well into the next century, this Japanese Classic is a seriously good buy.
Interior Overview
This cabin is spacious, in good shape, and includes a number of electric amenities. Keyless entry makes cabin access more seamless, and leg and shoulder room are abundant. The driver benefits from a tilt-adjustable steering column and a power-adjustable seat to find the ideal seating position. The dashboard lacks any cracking or distortion and has dual SRS front airbags. Power windows, power locks, and power mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by, and the Eclipse touchscreen audio sounds great and has a modern interface. For those who value safety, this audio system includes Bluetooth hands-free functionality. Below, a digital automatic climate system pulls in cool A/C and piping hot heat on demand. The headliner, door cards, and carpets are in good nick, and the gray upholstery lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. Aside from noting the power folding side mirror function no longer works, it’s hard to critique the cabin, and the new owner will surely enjoy the interior appointments. Even the OEM carpet mats are included with the purchase of this sedan!
Mechanical Overview
These front-drive sedan offers a smooth ride, a punchy V6 engine, and ease of service matched by few imports. The 2MZ-FE is fresh off an oil and filter service and churns to life quickly, courtesy of a new 12V battery. If you need to check your fluids, new hood struts ensure it stays up without giving you the guillotine treatment. The 2.5L is low vibration and will stay that way, as we installed new motor mounts. The V6 is mated to a responsive automatic that puts the power to the ground efficiently. It sails up to highway speeds and is comfortable with its soft suspension. It also slows down quickly, with standard ABS and new front rotors and brake pads. The power steering is light and easy to articulate and the platform has been freshly aligned. The tires are knee deep in tread and will provide all the year round grip you’ll need. Affordable yet refined, this is a Japanese Classic that shouldn’t fly under your radar.

CARB certifications will have to be performed within the state. Depending on the vehicle and any existing modifications will affect the pricing. Typically CARB compliance will range between 5-10K.
