Toyota is a company that refuses to rest on its laurels. After eight years of production, the Celsior went under the knife for a lifecycle update, and boy did Toyota hit the mark with this 1997 UCF21. Boasting more power, better equipment, and a slew of other upgrades, this is a very special sedan indeed. Finished in Diamond White Pearl, the paint is in good nick aside from some light dings, chips, and scratches associated with normal use. Eagle-eyed enthusiasts will note the tweaks to the bumpers and lights, which deliver a more modern aesthetic than older models. With only 107k verified and documented miles, this five-seater is barely broken in! Best of all, this saloon's hallmark reliability and ease of ownership are ideal for those who want to daily drive this UCF21. Reliable, affordable, and highly collectible, this Japanese Classic is a safe bet for those who want to hit the road in a turn-key ride!

The cabin is spacious, well equipped, and utilizes premium materials all around. Toyota placed a heavy emphasis on safety, standardizing dual front and side airbags for some added peace of mind. The driver has an unobscured view of the road ahead and the low-lying dash lacks any cracking or fading. To find the ideal driving position, the driver benefits from an electric steering column, while nearby are the controls for the power windows, door locks, and power folding mirrors. Both front seats are also electric and are heated, too. The leather deserves a special mention, as it was rarely ordered in Japan. It lacks any rips, stains, or cracks, and they even have power adjustable lumbar support and memory presets. Another rarely seen option is the retractable power sunroof. It allows for better ventilation and tons of natural light to flow into the cabin. An automatic digital climate control system is mounted in the center stack and is simple to use. It blows cold A/C and has dual climate zones in case you and your copilot have disagreements about the ideal cabin temp. The factory audio system works as well and delivers crisp audio throughout the interior. The carpets, door cards, and headliner all are in above-average shape, and as a whole, it's really hard to complain about this wonderful sedan. The owner's manuals, OEM carpet mats, a spare key, and maintenance booklet are included in the sale and even the OEM trash bin is still mounted under the glovebox on the passenger side!

Under the skin, this Celsior is a whole different animal from past examples. Two things should be stated right up front, as it relates to the driveline. The VVT-i V8 engine packs a whole lot more of a punch than before, and the extra cog added to the auto gearbox makes for much better throttle response and acceleration. The 1UZ-FE is fresh off an oil and filter service so it can be put to task on an immediate road trip. We also replaced the spark plugs, and the motor starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v battery that was installed while it was in our shop. The 4.0L operates silently, and very little engine or road noise ever filters through the cabin. To combat the heat produced by all those cylinders, a new radiator and upper coolant hose have been installed. We also fixed an oil pan leak just to make sure the V8 has all the lubricant required to keep her running as she should. The factory air suspension is height adjustable and allows this lead sled to sail over potholes and road imperfections without breaking a sweat. On the highway, this bad girl is at her best, and long road trips can be had with the utmost comfort. This full-size sedan is also quick to slow down from speed, and the ABS brakes are confident. Lastly, the refinished alloys have all been wrapped in new tires. The all-season Falkens quiet down the ride noticeably and will deliver tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip to come.
