The two door Mitsubishi Pajero has become a bit of a cult classic here stateside. With the unicorn Pajero Evolution models rapidly rising in value, models such as this 1997 ZR-S should be considered as a more affordable option. With a stout direct-injected V6 under the hood, this Pajero is a stout all-wheel warrior that looks the part as well! Finished in Mitsubishi's Satellite Silver Metallic (A69), the exterior of this one features some rally-inspired accouterments to really set it apart from the other cars on your morning commute. Records from Japan note a replacement hood, borrowed from a turbo diesel unit, and we must say the upgrade looks good! The factory-wide bodywork shows great and matches the Dakar winning pedigree of this model. Large OEM rainguards and a matching sunroof deflector are in good nick, and the rugged styling is rounded off by some choice 16" aftermarket alloys wrapped in brand-new Falken rubber! With only 81k verified and documented miles on the clock, this is one all-terrain warrior ready for tens of thousands of miles to come. Freshly legal to import, these V25 Pajeros are remarkably capable, efficient, and look superb for a serious, all-weather, Japanese Classic!

The interior is surprisingly spacious for a 2-door SUV and was clearly cared for during prior Japanese ownership. Finished in a complementary patterned grey cloth, the upholstery shows well, with no discernible damage to the seats or door card material. The dash is in great shape and houses dual SRS airbags, a feature not commonly seen on early Pajeros. The gray vinyl-trimmed dashboard shows well, with no cracking, peeling, or serious UV damage to note. The lower dash frames a fully functional digital automatic climate control unit, which is an upgrade over prior iterations of the truck. Not only does the A/C blow cold, but hot heat is also on the ready for anyone looking to turn this Pajero into a certified winter warrior. Unfortunately, the previous owner opted to remove the radio before sending this one off, but that leaves plenty of space to install the US-spec head unit of your choice! A factory field monitor rests atop the dash and functions properly. For those looking for a daily driven rig, this one is a good fit, and power windows, mirrors, and power locks work at the push of a button. There's even a power retractable sunroof that slides open without a hitch! The rear seats, while compact, offer ample space for two additional passengers, but they can also be folded forward to maximize any needed cargo space in the rear. Overall, the condition on this rig is impressive. Aside from some damage to the headliner, and some expected wear underneath the steering wheel cover it's a tall task for anyone to pick apart this 25 year old cabin. We've even kept the original toolkit and owner's manual handy for the eager next owner!

Under the hood, the 6G74 GDI stands loud and proud. For those who've previously enjoyed the appearance of the Pajero but weren't fans of the sluggish turbo diesel, this is the motor for you! The 6 pot fires up swiftly with the twist of a key, care of a freshly installed 12v battery, and operation at idle is near whisper-quiet. Our trained technicians performed a bit of key maintenance on this one, starting with a fresh oil and filter service to ensure you won't sweat a drop of lubricant. Fresh spark plugs across the board keep this one idling and accelerating smoothly, and under full throttle this little two-door hauler is a riot! Shifts through the automatic transmission are smooth, and a selectable manual mode works quite well if you want some extra control over the gear changes. Mated to the trans is Mitsubishi's world class SS4WD system, allowing you to adjust your drive wheels at speed, and the selector works without a hitch. If the going gets tough, a center locker can be engaged, as well. The suspension is plenty agile and glides over bumps with ease, and we've even installed new brake pads in the front which should stop this rig abruptly in any sticky situations thanks to factory ABS, as well. You definitely feel the rally heritage in this Pajero as you dart around on and off-road obstacles, but the power steering is light and on point for daily driving as well. Lastly we've even mounted and balanced new Falken A/T tires at all four corners to keep road noise down and grip strong for tens of thousands of miles to come!
