Exterior Overview
Sometimes we’re wowed by a particular vehicle. It could be rare options, desirable upgrades, or, like this Land Cruiser, low miles. This 1997 is a handsome truck, with its classy WEDS Keeler wheels, OEM rainguards and color-matched hardshell OEM spare tire carrier. Aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs, the Bluish Silver over Gray (k02) paint is in good nick, and this 4×4 is fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 68k verified and documented miles on the ticker, this V6 powered TZ model is barely broken in. Complete with a spacious cabin for eight, this capable, safe, reliable, and easy-to-service truck is retail-ready to go. Perfect for busy families, adventurous types, and dedicated off-road die-hards, this terrific Toyota can do no wrong!
Interior Overview
This Prado’s cabin is thoughtfully designed with loads of space for eight occupants. Several factory upgrades were spec’d on the example, including a functional power moonroof, optional lumbar support, and a neat dash mounted field monitor. Pilots of all sizes can find the optimal driving position courtesy of a tilt-adjustable steering column. The center stack is easy to reach and features working OEM audio and automatic climate control. The heat is piping hot, and the A/C is ice cold, having been bolstered by a new A/C compressor. If you prefer more natural ventilation, the side glass powers up and down and the rear quarter glass can be flared out to supplement airflow. Power folding mirrors and electric locks work like a charm, making daily use more enjoyable. The seats are in above-average shape and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can recline, split fold, and tumble forward to accommodate larger cargo. The rear jump seats can be stored tidily against the D pillar. Aside from some light damage on the front door cards, the cabin is in really good shape, and the headliner and carpets have withstood the past quarter century without sustaining major abuse. Even the owner’s manuals and a set of OEM carpet mats are included with the purchase of this fine vehicle!
Mechanical Overview
This body on frame SUV is a tank and can withstand tortuous environments and rough terrain. Equally robust is the 5VZ-FE engine. This quad cam mill churns to life with the twist of the key, courtesy of a new 12v battery. A new engine air filter and set of spark plugs were installed to promote proper fuel combustion as soon as it got onto the lift. So that the new battery would stay properly charged, one of our trained techs installed a new alternator. The V6 feels strong as it pulls all the way to redline. It’s linked to a stout automatic gearbox that shifts like a champ. The FullTime 4WD system includes a center locker and low range. On pavement, this rig gets up and moving to highway merging speeds without breaking a sweat. The long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well, and we have given the suspension a heavy refresh. New shocks were installed all around, and the front end received new front lower ball joints and front lower control arms. Out back, new rear upper and lower arms were swapped in, and we replaced the rear sway bar end links while we were at it! We then overhauled the steering system with a rack rebuild. This costly service will save the new owner some serious coin! When we do the repair, we always install new rack bushings and boots, replace the inner and outer tie rods, and flush the fluid. A fresh alignment was performed so this terrific Toyota tracks straight as an arrow, and the nearly new Yokohama rubber should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
