Stock #5786It's hard to think of a vehicle more versatile than Toyota's 3rd generation Hilux Surf. Sprinkle in a little turbo diesel magic with a center locking differential and the platform becomes nearly unstoppable in all road conditions as well! Our 1997 is a great looking rig. Finished in Toyota's ever elusive Lavender Steel Metallic (926) the exterior has plenty of panache, save for some expected scuffs and dings associated with daily use. With no other unnecessary modifications to the exterior apart from some choice OEM rainguards, privacy tint, and refinished factory alloys, this Surf has the eye catching looks to set it apart from other plebeian 4Runners on the road, and with only 132k verified/documented miles on the clock it's barely broken in as far as diesel Toyotas are concerned. Rugged, beloved, and ready for adventure, the N185 Surf is a fantastic investment for any Toyota diehard and a Japanese Classic that refuses to back down from any challenge. The interior is spacious, packed to the brim with amenities, and features the same condition, fit, and finish you've come to expect from the brand's offerings in the late 90's. The seats are upholstered in a sought after "Moon Mist" fabric, great news for Toyota and Faygo enthusiasts alike, and show no discernible defects outside of some very light staining from day to day use. Complementing the upholstery is a low lying vinyl dashboard with matte black accent trim. With no defects on the dash to note and two SRS airbags up front, it's great news for anyone looking to daily drive this beaut. Atop the dash sits a Pioneer Navi screen, while not functional on US roads it makes for a great conversation piece, but could leave some residue on the otherwise perfect dash if removed. Tucked away in the lower dash trim is OEM audio and a fully functional automatic climate control unit. With both cold A/C and hot heat on tap this all-weather vehicle stays true to form and all controls work without a hitch. Power windows, power locks, and power folding mirrors are all in good operation, and the rear glass even unfurls at the push of a button to allow your four legged friends some extra ventilation in the rear. The rear bench is versatile, seating 3 additional passengers with ease while also folding all the way forward to accommodate some extra cargo space. The headliner is still in great nick and it's clear this one was well cared for in its prior Japanese life. For those passionate about their truck's history, we've even retained the factory carpeted floor mats and original owner's manual! While the scooped hoods on USDM Toyota's are mainly show pieces, this one serves a purpose, feeding the Intercooled 1KZ-TE turbodiesel with fresh charges of air to keep exhaust temps cool during sustained highway drives. These unstoppable mills are notorious for being near bulletproof, with many examples racking up over half a million miles with ease. Still, when this one rolled into the shop some necessary maintenance was in order, starting with a 12v battery that helps this diesel chug to life every time. A new fuel filter relieves this one of any pesky fueling issues, and a fresh oil and filter service ensures you'll stay well lubricated until the next service. Acceleration is potent, with a hefty nudge of torque down low to propel you to highway speeds, and the transmission delivers effortless shifts. As any enthusiast knows, the main draw of these rigs is the formidable 4wd system. The transfer case engages without hesitation, and a center locking differential can be called upon for a quick escape from any sticky situation. We've even replaced the output shaft seal on the case so you won't sweat a drop of necessary fluid! New shocks on the rear keep the ride smooth and compliant, and the brakes stop on a dime thanks to new pads and rotors up front. The power steering is light and on point for a truck, and this one can easily maneuver around town for your day-to-day errands. For a unique, head-turning N185, it doesn't get much better than this, and we've even wrapped the OEM alloys in fresh Falken A/T rubber to deliver plenty of on and off road grip for tens of thousands of miles to come!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
