The crossover is one of the most popular forms of transportation in the US for good reason. Blending SUV-like practicality and amenities with the compact footprint of a smaller vehicle, it's no surprise the Honda CR-V is the brand's best-selling model to this day! While every brand seems to have its own iteration of the chassis, we like to pay homage to the originals here at Japanese Classics, and this 1997 CRV is a well-preserved example. Finished in a sparkling coat of MoonWalk Grey (B14) the exterior certainly stands out from other plebeian CRVs on the road. Boasting a few trick OEM accents like a factory bull bar, fender mirror, and rear privacy tint, you'll definitely catch the eye of any discerning Honda enthusiast. Fresh off a recent in-house service and bearing only 55k verified/documented miles, this RD1 CRV is an all-wheel warrior ready to do daily duty stateside. Compact, capable, and most importantly comfortable, the original RD1 is Japanese Classics through and through.

The interior is spacious, comfortable, and most importantly just as clean as the exterior! It's evident Honda prioritized utility when designing these cockpits, as you can comfortably seat 5 passengers with room to spare. Plenty of power amenities are on hand to make the whole family happy, too. The seats are trimmed in a plush patterned grey cloth. With no notable rips, tears, or stains on the upholstery, they've clearly held up well during their life in Japan. The dash is in equally good nick, showing no signs of cracks, peeling, or pesky UV damage. With a fully functional automatic climate control at the ready you'll be able to supply the cabin with cold A/C or hot heat on demand. There's certainly no shortage of storage space in these capable crossovers, and two storage bins are cleverly nestled in the dash for added space to store your important tchotchkes. A Kenwood audio upgrade plays tunes crisp and clear throughout the cabin, and a handful of power equipment is on deck to make daily driving enjoyable! Power windows, locks, and power mirrors are readily accessible and work as expected. The middle row is versatile, folding completely forward to accommodate oodles of cargo space in the rear. Overall it's hard to scrutinize this interior. The materials are all in great nick, down to the headliner and factory carpet, and we've even included the factory-carpeted floor mats for the eager next owner!

The RD-1 shares most of its running gear with the USDM model, making parts sourcing and servicing a breeze. Power is delivered via the punchy B20B DOHC engine, providing enough get up and go to dart around town or cruise comfortably on the highway. The B-series is also known for delivering excellent fuel efficiency in these lightweight platforms. Our trained technicians have changed the oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, and performed a fresh oil and filter service to keep fluids topped up. A new 12V battery ensures this powerplant will fire up the first time, every time! A new air filter keeps her breathing right, and we've completely overhauled the ignition system with new plugs, wires, and a new distributor cap and rotor. Lastly, we've even changed the fuel filter to keep this one running right as rain. The automatic transmission shifts smoothly and is easy to operate, and optional AWD is sure to come in handy for any mail carriers, campers, or soft-roaders that may traverse off the beaten path. We've even replaced the trailing arm bushings to give the drivetrain a slight refresh. The suspension is durable and compliant, and braking leaves little to be desired, as this flyweight chassis stops on a dime! For an around-town warrior or highway commuter it's hard to beat the versatility of this CR-V, and with 5 new Falken tires installed you're sure to have plenty of grip for the road ahead.
