When you look at the US market, Civic hatches are fetching some insane figures. Why not start with a bone stock, and unmolested example like this 1997 EK offered with an incredibly low 20k verified and documented miles? Finished in a beautiful Adriatic Blue Pearl (B-74P) the body is in good shape aside from light scratches, dings, and chips associated with normal use. Prior repairs in Japan do include a replacement left front fender but that does little to tarnish this lovable Civic's desirability. Complementing the exterior is a set of factory optional gold emblems, and OEM rain guards. The interior is also in near mint condition, and surprisingly well equipped for a 90s commuter. Recently serviced and legally imported, this hot hatch would make for a unique daily driver or weekend cruiser. Fun, well cared for, and affordable, this EK is the definition of a Japanese Classic and is ready for its next chapter here stateside.

Once inside the cabin, you’ll find it's quite spacious, given the hatch's compact exterior. There is tons of head and shoulder room, and the driver's view is clear and unobstructed on all sides. The dash lacks any cracking or distortion and has a sizable glovebox housing the factory owner’s manuals and maintenance booklet. It also houses dual-front SRS airbags for some added peace of mind when behind the wheel. Centrally mounted in the dash is an automatic climate control system that blows piping hot heat and ice-cold A/C on demand. Keyless entry, electric windows, and power mirrors make daily use enjoyable, and this Civic's seats are surprisingly comfortable for those who have a longer commute. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears although we wanted to mention three small holes on the left rear seat bottom. The headliner and door cards have resisted major abuse over the years, and still show extremely well. The carpets look great, and the factory floor mats are in equally good condition. We also wanted to mention the head unit is no longer powered and the center stack has some chipped plastic around the radio. Still, at 25 years old this EK has held up quite well over the years, and we're sure you’ll agree.

Honda's drivetrains during the mid-1990's are well known for their reliability, low cost of ownership, and fuel efficiency. The peppy D13B engine can be found under the hood, and is fresh off an oil and filter service. It starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v battery and breathes freely now, as one of our trained techs just replaced the engine air filter. This D-Series is connected to a smooth shifting automatic gearbox. Perfect for scooting about town or cruising at the much faster U.S. highway speeds, the transmission performs seamlessly. It makes good use of the 1.3 liter's power and sends torque to the front wheels. The factory suspension can handle the rigors of daily use and has plenty of ground clearance in case your city's roadways aren't in great shape. The brakes are confident, thanks to a new left rear brake cylinder, and the power-assisted steering is precise keeping the Civic nimble in tight quarters. Finally, brand new tires have been mounted and balanced on all four corners providing trouble-free driving for tens of thousands of miles to come.
