Stateside we have the Toyota 4Runner, a well known reliable SUV with so much potential and capability. In Japan they also had their version of the 4Runner known as the Hilux Surf. Although cosmetically similar, they had a few notable differences. This 1996 Hilux Surf SSR-G is the turbo diesel version that us Americans never got. For those that know the brand 146k verified and documented miles is barely broken in and this Hilux runs strong! The refinished Cavalry Blue and Gray two-tone exterior is in excellent condition, with only minimal imperfections. This Hilux surf is one of the best-looking SUV's that we have had to date. Sitting on OEM wheels and suspension and equipped with OEM side steps, getting in and out is a breeze. The privacy tint in the rear gives the blue exterior some extra pop on top of adding some privacy and keeping the interior cool. The exterior is equipped with an OEM spoiler which features the undeniably cool power under mirror that unfurls at the push of a button. The JDM rear mounted spare tire swing arm adds to the cool factor of this iconic Japanese classic SUV!

Inside the large cabin, one can instantly tell that this Hilux was well taken care of during its prior life in Japan. The upholstered cloth seats are soft to the touch, lacking any major rips, tears, or stains for being 25+ years old. The OEM floor mats are also included with this SUV and have been well maintained over the years along with the headliner, and door cards. The dashboard, which is known for bubbling, cracking or lifting near the windshield lacks any of those issues and is in good condition. Equipped with dual SRS airbags in the dash and the steering wheel you'll have an extra layer of protection in this Hilux. The upgraded Carrozzeria head unit functions well and is ready to play some tunes through the speakers. The automatic climate control blasts cold A/C or hot heat maintaining comfortable temperature inside the cabin. Power windows, power locks and power mirrors are all equipped and make daily driving a breeze. Not to say that this vehicle is perfect, as there are a few imperfections. The OEM leather steering wheel is peeling a bit, the carpet is stained a bit and the power-folding mirror feature is also not functioning. For those with 4 legged friends, the rear cargo space is large and provides ample room, and the rear window also rolls down with the touch of a button giving them more fresh air.

The strong and reliable 1KZ-TE turbo diesel engine is paired to a slick-shifting automatic transmission making long trips or daily commutes easy and new shifter bushings makes gear selection smooth. A fresh oil and filter service and two brand new 12v batteries were installed making the 1KZ turn-key ready. Acceleration is quick thanks to the fast spooling turbo, making merging speeds easy to get up to.
