Stock #5640

Stock# 5640The Hilux Surf is a fantastic vehicle to go exploring in! Rugged, dependable, and capable this 1996 is the real deal. Nearly identical to our stateside 4Runner, this 4x4 rig is equipped with one special option, the 1KZ-TE turbodiesel engine. Finished in a one-off Hyper Black, this beast is set off by an optional OEM front valence, LED tail lamps, refinished alloy wheels, and an OEM rear spoiler and rainguards. The paint is in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scratches associated with normal use, and this sleek and sinister-looking truck turns more than a couple of heads! It's good to know that beauty runs more than skin deep, and this freshly serviced Hilux Surf is offered with a mere 134k verified and documented miles. If you happen to be a Toyota brand enthusiast, you're keenly aware that this driveline is barely broken in! For those with families, adventurous lifestyles, or for those with an appreciation for a punchy, efficient, and unique SUV for year-round use, this Japanese Classic is it!The interior is spacious and nicely optioned too. Dual SRS airbags are mounted up front for some added peace of mind and the driver has a commanding view of the road ahead. For daily use, power mirrors, locks, and windows work like a charm. The center stack includes a functional Kenwood headunit and automatic climate control system. The A/C blows cold and the heat is on hand for the winter ahead. The seats are covered in a blue corduroy style cloth and are comfortable on longer journeys. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears. The driver even gets adjustable lumbar support and the rear passengers receive 4way reclinable seats. The headliner is tight and taut on the roof and the carpets and door cards are in good nick aside from a small crack on the driver's side front door card. We also wanted to note that the sunroof is no longer able to retract and that there are some holes in the dash from where a JDM nav system was mounted. On the positive side, the OEM carpet mats are included in the purchase, and it's tough to complain about the cabin otherwise. This body on frame KZN185 is a tough son of a gun. Designed to take a lickin' and keep on ticking, the 1KZ-TE is the heart of this Surf. The four-banger may lack some refinement, but it makes up for it with an endless supply of torque, and fuel economy that puts its gasoline counterparts to shame. One of our trained techs has given the engine a bit of a refresh care of a new valve cover gasket and oil and filter service. To help with cold weather startups, a new 12v battery was also chucked in for good measure. Mated to a slick-shifting automatic transmission, the driver has the ability to send power to the rear wheels or all four. To maintain its surefooted grip on loose surfaces the selective transfer case can be utilized for 4WD low, and for the nasty stuff, a center locker can be deployed. To keep this robust 4x4 system running tip-top, we replaced the leaking old front transfer case seal with a brand new one. She drives right as rain now and is every bit as good on the tarmac as she is off the beaten path. The suspension is compliant and predictable and there is a whole lot of ground clearance for the occasional impediment. The brakes feel reassured and the power steering is light and on point. To complete the list of items in the shop we mounted and balanced four new tires. These 31" Falken look mean as hell but most importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come. *California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
