Stock #5987
Stock #5987A highway staple, Ebisu legend, and dependable family hauler, the JZX100 is nothing short of a bonafide Japanese Classic. Our 1996 Tourer V is a fine unit, finished in a standout Oxford Green (430). Save for some minor paint imperfections and a foggy headlamp, this sporty tourer is clean, eye catching, and is set off by an OEM optional mesh grille and a slick set of aftermarket five spoke alloys. Some consumers may argue that mileage is one of the most valuable assets on an old Toyota, and this transporter is bound to agree, as the 118k miles on the clock are verified, documented, and help to aid this classic sedan's desirability. Easy to own, modify and maintain, and fun to drive in just about any condition, it doesn't get much better than this Chaser Tourer V!The interior is everything you'd expect out of a great, dependable daily driver. The seats are upholstered in a striped cloth which has resisted most typical wear and tear over the years outside of a burn hole on the driver's bucket. The front seats are nicely bolstered and the driver gains some additional lumbar support and a tilting and telescoping steering column. The dash lacks any unwanted cracking or distortion and aside from some fading to the carbon trim the materials show well overall. The center stack boasts oscillating climate vents and an adjacent digital automatic climate control unit is easy to operate to throw cold A/C and hot heat about the cabin. All power windows are operable, as are the power locks and electric folding side mirrors. Towards the tail end of the millenium, Toyota prioritized safety, and dual front and side SRS airbags bolster the cockpit to keep your passengers at ease. The headliner is tight and tidy, and the carpets are no worse for the wear. Save for a cracked audio screen and a missing factory spare, it's in great shape for being 25 years young! The Chassis is solid, but the drivetrain is where the real desirability kicks in on this Tourer V. Powered by the legendary 1JZ-GTE, this Chaser fires up with the twist of a key thanks to a new 12v battery we installed here at the shop and settles into a smooth burbling idle. Fresh off a recent service, we gave this 1JZ an oil and filter change and replaced a tired old timing belt and water pump with new units. While we were servicing the running gear, we also rebuilt the VVT-i gear with new seals and replaced the valve cover gasket. A new alternator and A/C compressor ensure this 2.5T steers clear of operating issues, a fresh engine air filter and fuel filter keep out any pesky contaminants, and with the maintenance performed she shoots up to highway speeds in a jiffy. In stock form, the 2.5 turbo is a rewarding drive in itself and the automatic gearbox makes quick work of transferring power to the rear wheels. A rebuilt ECU handles the brains of the operation, and a lifetime warranty is included with the computer should it need servicing in the future. We took care of a new lower ball joint at the left front to have no issues passing state safety inspection, and the suspension is responsive and easy to float over larger road imperfections. The steering is light, and the ABS brakes are bolstered by new pads and rotors if you need to come to an abrupt stop. The alloys are wrapped in fresh Falken rubber. Knee deep in tread, they'll have you covered and really maximize smiles per gallon!*California Residents: In order to register a Grey Market vehicle in the state of California then it will have to be made CARB compliant first.
