If bang for the buck matters to you, look no further than this 1996 Land Cruiser. The J95 is refined, spacious, safe and capable, and this one features the same V6 as our American 4Runners. Finished in a menacing one-off Dahlia Black, the handsome styling is set off by LED tail lights, aftermarket halo headlamps, privacy tint, OEM rainguards, and 16" WEDS Keeler alloys shod in fresh 31" Falkens. Aside from a few dings, chips, and scuffs this TZ model is in good shape and fresh off a recent service. Boasting only 147k verified and documented miles, this Toyota is barely broken in and is turn key ready to roll off our lot. Ideal for a year round transport, this 4WD hauler would make for a killer daily driver or weekend overlander. Practical, reliable, and inexpensive to operate, this Japanese Classic receives high marks and drives even better than it looks.
The cabin is sizable and packed with premium materials and safety features. Dual SRS airbags are standard and the dashboard is ergonomic and utilizes a simple design. It lacks any cracking or fading and the OEM field monitor is mounted dead center in the drivers line of sight. It displays info about the outside condition in the event your cell phone has died or you've travelled off the grid. The driver benefits from a sleek OEM woodgrain steering wheel on a tilt adjustable steering column. Additionally, power folding mirrors, electric door locks, and power windows all work as advertised, with a keyless entry remote making vehicle access that much easier. A Bluetooth Pioneer audio upgrade was performed, and sound quality is above average overall, and the digital automatic climate control below is easy to operate and can cycle cold A/C or piping hot heat through the cabin on demand. If you're more into natural ventilation, the rear side glass pops out and a power OEM sunroof can be unfurled. The seats are in above average shape and lack any major rips, stains or tears. Even the third row is plenty spacious and can stow against the D-pillars if extra cargo space is required. The carpets, headliner and door cards are in good nick as are the carpets, and as a whole this cabin really delivers and should nicely suit its eager next owner and all future occupants. We've even retained the factory owner's manual, maintenance booklet, and OEM optional armrest extension for added comfort on your drive!
Under the skin the engine and platform are the same as our N180 4Runners. This makes parts sourcing a snap and these lovable rigs are super easy to wrench on. The 5VZ-FE starts up promptly, care of a new 12v battery and is fresh off an oil and filter service. A new fuel filter was installed while it was up on the lift and we also chucked in some new plugs to optimize combustion of the fuel and air mixture. A pesky job on these quad cam six cylinders, one of our trained techs has installed new valve cover gaskets to replace the weary old ones. We also refreshed the transfer case with new front and rear output seals. The engine and trans feed power through a selective transfer case and a Full-Time 4WD system. Peppy about town and stable at higher interstate speeds, this big ute has no problem merging or keeping up with traffic, and a Ganador exhaust helps bring a little growl out of the V6. New upper control arms and rear shocks improve the ride, and deliver a soft yet predictable overall feel. While it does feel like a top tier SUV over pavement. on loose surfaces, it's a cut above the competition. This Prado not only has a low range 4WD setting but is further bolstered by a locking OEM center differential. If you need to slow down, standard ABS brakes feel confident and grip comes from brand new Falken all terrains at all four corners. The fresh rubber also reduces road noise, too, and will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
