This 1996 Hilux Surf is a special one. Boasting a sturdy turbodiesel engine, spacious cabin, and durable 4x4 system, what's not to like? Finished in a Desert Dune Metallic over Cement two-tone (1A5/1H5), this SSR-V is set off by 16" Epsilon alloys and a set of OEM rainguards. The paint is in good shape overall aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Fresh off a recent service, this rig is offered with a mere 142k verified and documented miles. As fabulous daily drivers, weekend trail rigs, or family haulers these Surf's have something for everyone to enjoy. For those looking for a punchy and efficient Japanese Classic SUV, this tough Toyota will suit the bill and is turn-key ready to roll.

The cabin is in good shape and was cared for in a prior life. The upholstery lacks any major rips stains or tears and is comfortable over long trips. The dash is also in good shape, lacking any cracking or fading, and houses dual-front SRS airbags. The OEM headunit was ditched in Japan for a snazzy Kenwood unit that works like a charm. The factory climate control located above is easy to use and at an arm's reach. The A/C blows cold thanks to a new compressor that was installed by one of our trained techs. The heat is enough to singe your eyebrows, too. If you prefer more natural ventilation the windows, including the rear glass and electric sunroof can be opened for an open-air experience. Other power amenities include power locks and mirrors that work as advertised. The carpets, door cards, and headliner are in fine shape and have resisted major abuse over the years. Even the OEM carpet mats are still on hand, which the next owner will love.

Powering the Surf is Toyota's legendary 1KZ-TE. The four-banger is fresh off an oil and filter service and starts up promptly thanks to a new 12v battery. A new valve cover gasket ensures the 3.0L stays topped up on oil and runs like a champ. Power is fed to the rear wheels, or all four, depending on driver preference. A center locker is ideal for off-road excursions as is the low range transfer case. The N185 cruises comfortably on the highway and is peppy around town. Shifts are seamless through an automatic gearbox and the ride is predictable and fairly refined for a truck. The tachometer no longer operates which is a common issue, but it's an automatic so it doesn't make much difference. We have rehabbed the driveline with a new right rear axle seal and she's good to go, now. The brakes are confident and the steering is light and power-assisted, making parking a snap. Lastly new 31" Falken all-terrain tires were mounted and balanced at all four corners. The beefy rubber will deliver all the year-round grip you will need and last for tens of thousands of miles to come and nn alignment was performed for good measure!
