While the 70 series Prado has been legal here stateside for quite some time now, it remains extremely popular thanks to its rugged styling, simplicity, and staunch Toyota reliability. The durable, tough nature of these Land Cruisers is on full display with our 1995 Prado EX. Optioned from the factory with the brand's legendary 1KZ-TE turbodiesel powerplant, this Prado is bodacious and bulletproof, and an excellent alternative to Jeeps, G Wagens, and pricier SUVs alike. Finished in a Dark Emerald Green over Oyster Pearl two-tone (26z), the body and paint are in good shape aside from some light dings, chips, and scuffs associated with normal use. Notable prior repairs in Japan do include replacement right side door skins. Set off by a set of OEM rainguards, an OEM brushguard, and a one-off body-matched silver roof, this SUV is sure to make a statement on the tarmac and off the beaten path. Fresh off a recent service, this capable turbo diesel Cruiser is offered with 158k verified and documented miles, and is turn-key ready to tackle whatever adventures await. Reliable, retro, and ready to roll, this collectible Toyota won't last long, and is a certified Japanese Classic.

With classic vehicles, sometimes less is more, and the spacious, utilitarian layout of the Prado's cabin makes it a perfect contender for daily driving or weekend hauls. The seats are trimmed in a blue and gray cloth that is soft to the touch, and shows no notable defects other than typical light stains from day-to-day use. It's rare we see these Prados without major dash cracks, but this one seems to have escaped the harmful UV rays of the sun, with no major defects to be found. Adding some flair to the interior is the aftermarket wood steering wheel and matching wood dash accents. The door cards are in good nick and are free of any major defects, showing just minor cracking along the top corners of the front doors. The carpets and headliner are also in decent condition, showing some staining and sagging, but no rips or tears. The simple-to-use climate control system supplies cold A/C, for these last remaining summer months, and hot heat on demand, for winter use. To help make your commute more convenient, power windows , power locks, power mirrors, and a power moonroof are all available at the push of a button. These items all work as advertised and compliment the aftermarket Kenwood headunit, which provides clear sound and CD and auxiliary compatibility so you can blast your favorite tunes at will. The second row of seats folds out of the way creating an ample amount of cargo space for your larger items. The driver even receives adjustable lumbar support and a tilt-adjustable column. As a whole, the cabin shows quite nicely for a 25-year-old vehicle, and it's hard to find any gripes about the condition.

The simple and sturdy body-on-frame platform is a good reason why these Cruisers have stood the test of time, and still make such great drivers today. The engine also has a reputation that precedes itself, and the 3.0L 1KZ-TE under the hood is known around the world for its reliability, efficiency, and low-end torque. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the four-banger starts up promptly with a turn of the key, thanks to a brand new 12V battery. The selective transfer case includes a low gear setting for situations with less than ideal traction, and the driver can even manually lock the front hubs when needed. The automatic gearbox shifts properly and a new transmission pan gasket ensures the trans stays topped off on fluid. The long wheelbase is ideal for interstate driving and gives a more stable feel on the freeway. The brakes are confident and the steering is precise thanks to the new panhard bar bushings. New Falken all-terrain rubber was mounted and balanced at all four corners. The new tires look mean but more importantly will last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
