The Hilux Surf is one of Toyota's most versatile vehicles designed to date, with the second generation model truly defining the chassis as the go-to midsize SUV in off-roading and overlanding circles. With 4wd, oodles of cargo space, and a myriad of available drivetrain options, the Surf was truly a vehicle that could leave no stone unturned and look good doing it. While most of our trucks bear aggressive, off-road inspired styling and beefy all terrain rubber, occasionally we bring in examples like this KZN130 that stand out a bit from the pack. Our 1995 Hilux Surf SSR-X sports a full one-off FRP aero and a choice custom Midnight Merlot Metallic paint job. The ground effects package works alongside and a set of fitting Work Euroline wheels that tuck nicely underneath the subtle one-off fender flares. OEM rainguards, a custom front grille, fog lights, and clear tail lights and corner lights provide some additional subtle sporty touches to accentuate this unique Surf. With only 50k verified/documented miles and a recent service performed in-house, this KZN130 is a turn-key street truck, and a perfect example of a seldom-seen Japanese Classic style.

Beneath the wild exterior lies a surprisingly reserved and well-kept interior. It's no surprise the previous owner cared for this Surf in Japan. The dash is free of any cracks, lifting, or pesky sun damage, and the striped cloth upholstery still presents incredibly well aside from one rip on the driver's side seat bolster. The seats offer ample support for all five passengers, with the driver receiving additional seat and steering column height adjustment for some extra comfort behind the wheel. A Clarion audio upgrade plays crisp and clear throughout the cabin, with MP3 and Iphone capability on the ready for a bit of modern flair. We always champion these Surfs for their user accessibility, with features like power windows, power locks, and even power-folding mirrors all in good operating order. The factory climate control unit is easy to use and switches between ice-cold A/C and hot heat at the flip of a switch. The rear seat offers two different settings, folding forward to allow for more cargo space, and reclining all the way back to please any sleepy passengers. The trunk offers ample storage room and the carpets and headliner are in good nick as well. This truck clearly wasn't a dedicated hauler and the condition of the interior definitely holds up. Overall we think the next owner will definitely enjoy being in the cockpit, and having the original carpeted floor mats and owners manuals certainly doesn't hurt.

The 1KZ-TE is certainly a fan-favorite powerplant in these trusty Toyotas. Championed for its bulletproof construction, efficiency, and ease of service, there's not much this turbo diesel motor can't do. This Surf fires up with the twist of a key, care of two new 12v batteries, and idles smooth and confident after a fresh oil and filter service. A new valve cover installed in house ensures the fresh oil won't sweat a drop! An aftermarket intake delivers a satisfying whoosh of turbo noises to the cabin, and a full Suxon catback exhaust hums nicely without being too overbearing. Shifts through the 5 speed manual gearbox are smooth and direct, and the selectable transfer case allows the driver to easily get this truck out of any sticky situations and back on the pavement where it belongs. This KZN130 retains its stock suspension, allowing for a comfortable ride on whatever road conditions appear, and we've even installed new shocks on all four corners to ensure you won't have any suspension woes on the road. Braking is confident, and new front pads and rotors help slow this street truck down when you're showing off in stop-and-go city traffic. The power steering is light and on point, and overall this Surf's driving experience is world-class. We've even installed new tires on all four corners to keep this truck gripping the road for tens of thousands of miles to come!
