Vans like this 1995 Toyota HiAce pack plenty of amenities within their roomy confines. This 4WD diesel variant has flexible seating options for eight, and a legendary turbodiesel mounted between the front wheels. Boasting a mere 126K verified miles and finished in a classic Silver Tri-Coat Metallic (21T) with OEM rain guards; the body is in good shape other than some light dings, scuffs, and chips associated with normal use. Sitting on a set of fresh tires, this gutty hauler would make a perfect adventure van or unique JDM daily driver.

The cabin is above average shape compared to your typical van of this age. Being that this is a cab-over design, visibility is incredible and in this van, you can see above the traffic surrounding you. The controls are simple and easy to use, mounted centrally in the dash. The driver gets a digital display and adjustable steering column to make getting comfortable easy. The dash itself, it should be noted, is in good nick lacking any major cracking, fading, or distortion. The most helpful cabin update is a Pioneer touch screen head unit that does works properly. A powered panoramic sunroof suite allows for passengers to see the heavens above. The middle panel fully retracts and the rears both ventilate. Other power equipment that is a standard includes power-folding mirrors, locks, and windows. Flexible seating options include a swivel middle seat, and the rear row can be completed removed if you have large cargo to be carried. Best of all, they fold flat into a bed-like sleeping surface.

The mechanicals underpinning this Toyota were the most desirable offered in this generation HiAce. Fresh off a diesel specif oil and filter service, the 3.0L 1KZ-TE churns to life with a twist of the key. This sizable four-cylinder provides instant thrust and has a broad torque profile. The engine is mated to an automatic transmission, which shifts properly, and is geared for US interstates unlike smaller vans sold in Japan. Acceleration is brisk and power is fed to all four wheels. The steering is light and the brakes feel confident in slowing this rig down when required. The long overhangs give this HiAce some help, and the turning radius is impressive if you live in a metropolitan area. The suspension is compliant, and the ride quality is decent for a vehicle of this age. The six lug factory wheels are all wrapped in new all-season rubber, mounted, and balanced by one of our trained techs.

This HiAce SuperCustom is begging for a road trip. Its roomy accommodations, 4WD, and Toyota reliability make this an instant Japanese Classic!
