Toyota's 70 series is special for a lot of reasons. It's about the most honest classic 4x4 experience you can have on four wheels while still retaining plenty of modern amenities! It's no wonder these KZJ78's are so popular for daily use, and models like our 1995 Land Cruiser Prado are extra special, thanks to its new custom Byron Blue/Gunmetal (1CK) paint and prominent 3" lift. Additionally, the factory winch is worth its weight in gold, and a B.I.T snorkel adds a fair amount of functional off-road flair to the already menacing aesthetic. The rear bumper was removed to accommodate an aftermarket hitch setup, and OEM rainguards and 16" Centerline wheels shod in massive 35" all terrains complete the all-business aesthetic. The 147k miles on the clock are also verified and documented, and do a lot to aid this 29-year-old truck's desirability. For a truly standout experience on and off the pavement, you'll turn plenty of heads in this special Prado. Dependable, retro, and easy to own and maintain, we wouldn't call this one anything else than a true Japanese Classic!

For a chassis that debuted in 1981, you wouldn't expect the interior to be so modern, but it holds up to 21st-century driving quite well thanks to its full slate of power amenities and spacious layout. Typically prone to cracks and UV distortion, the vinyl material on the dash is free of any major eyesores save for a couple nicks, and the suede upholstery has resisted the better part of three decades with nary a rip or stain. In fact, aside from some pilling on the fabric, it lacks any serious defects overall! The same can be said for the headliner and carpets too, and there are no smells or odors to note. Nestled in the center stack, manual climate control works like a charm, and cold A/C can be switched on and off at will. The heat blows hot too, and an adjacent Carrozzeria touchscreen head unit supplies the tunes for longer commutes. To maximize storage space, the rear bench can tumble forward, and the factory "active vacation" equipment in the rear is perfect for any aspiring overlanders. While we haven't tested their operation, a camping stove and sink look seldom used and there are plenty of nooks and crannies for additional interior storage as well. It also converts into a sleeping platform for our overlanding clients. Enhancing ease of use in the modern age, all four power windows work as advertised, as do the power locks, electric side mirrors, and the power moonroof. The driver even has an electric lumbar support and a tilt adjustable steering column. Save for light defects, it's hard to be picky with these classic interiors, and this Prado delivers!

The exterior looks good, the interior feels good, but the drivetrain on this thing is where the money is! Power is supplied via Toyota's durable 1KZ-TE and this 3.0 four-banger is fresh off a recent service here at the shop. We addressed some typical wear items, like all-new serpentine belts, and we also installed a new valve cover gasket up top so you get the most out of our fresh oil and filter service. For a lifted brute, the long wheelbase feels exceptionally stable and the turbodiesel takes the extra weight from the tires like a champ, delivering oodles of torque down low. An automatic gearbox sends power rearward, and 4WD can be engaged to maximize traction on loose surfaces. New Ironman 4x4 shocks were installed all the way around, and we also changed out some dry-rotted rear trailing arm bushings with new ones. This rig eats up road imperfections large and small and the brakes do a swell job at stopping this behemoth on a dime if need be. Although the 35" Radar All Terrains do lightly rub at full lock, they are brand new, and should deliver plenty of on-or off-road grip on your next big adventure!
