The Mitsubishi Pajero makes for a great all-around SUV. It certainly is a capable steed, with a grunty turbodiesel, four-wheel-drive, and even a third row. This 1995 Exceed is offered with an incredibly low 44K verified miles and finished in a clean Silver/Green two-tone (H1GF). Iconic looking with its chrome brush guard and hood-scoop, the body is in good shape other than the normal scuffs, dings, and dents associated with normal use. Best of all, this Pajero boasts an inexpensive inception price and a reputation for reliability and low cost of ownership.

The interior is surprisingly well equipped and is full of power options. A tilt wheel and large power-retractable sunroof greet the driver upon entry. Functional power-folding mirrors, locks, and windows are also standard. The dash is in good shape and lacks any cracking or sun-related distortion. There is a center gauge cluster with an altimeter and thermometer within the driver's view, and a fully digital climate system sits below. There are separate front and rear climate zones and the A/C has just received a fresh recharge for summer. The factory audio system works as it should and it overpowers the omnipresent diesel clatter that you'll get from this torquey four-banger. The seats are in above average shape and are trimmed in a soft, gray cloth. Comfortable for long journeys, it's remarkable how well they have held up. There are no major rips, stains, or tears in either of the three rows. The headliner, door cards, and carpets are all in good nick, and the owner's manual and spare key are sitting in the glovebox. OEM all-weather mats are also included in the purchase and are located in the spacious rear cargo area, that is accessed by a side-hinging cargo gate.

Under the big steel bonnet rests Mistbishi's 2.8L 4M40 turbo diesel. The four-cylinder fires up quickly and sets into an even idle. Fresh off a diesel specific oil and filter change, she runs great and doesn't need a scheduled service for another three thousand miles. Torque is prodigious, and power is sent to either two or four wheels depending on the driver's preference. The automatic transmission shifts properly, and doesn't clunk or hesitate. The 4x4 system works as it should and the selective transfer case can be operated at speeds of up to 62 mph. The factory adjustable suspension has settings for hard and soft dampening. With plenty of ground clearance, the ride quality is decent for a body on frame vehicle in general. At 25 years of age, there are surprisingly few rattles and the chassis isn't easily jolted by larger road imperfections. The brakes are confident and the steering is power-assisted, and light. The truck goes where you point it, and a new set of tires at all four corners ensures a year-round grip.
