1995 Land Cruiser KZJ71
Stock Number: 4563
We retail a good number of 70 series Land Cruisers here at Japanese Classics, and its undeniable that both two and four-door variants are wonderful trucks. This 1995 KZJ71 really turns heads, with its custom Dark Green Pearl paint, and its rugged off-road aesthetic. The body is in good shape other than some dings, and scuffs associated with normal use, and features OEM Rainguards, LED lights, and custom steel bumpers for good measure. Offered with only 123k original miles, and powered by Toyotas legendary 1KT-ZE turbodiesel, this Prado SX is one for the ages!
The inside is perhaps the most impressive and surprising portion of our evaluation. You'd expect a spartan interior, with manual switchgear and cheap plastics. Nothing could be further from the truth, and a suite of power equipment and convenience items greet occupants upon entry. Seldom seen, keyless entry fobs are included in the sale of this Prado and function! The driver also gets an adjustable steering column, and one-touch power windows, locks, and mirrors are working as they should be. The driver sits high up and has an impressive command of the road ahead. At night time, the addition of LED pencil lights and headlights make you forget this truck is 25 years old, and are helpful illuminating the roadway ahead. A Kenwood head unit has updated the cabin from the dated factory one, and the speakers fill the cabin with sound. Leather seat covers give the cabin a more premium feel, and the seats themselves are comfortable on long cruises. The A/C blows ice cold, which is going to be very important this summer. Privacy tint and rear sliding widows help to reduce interior temps if you're not the type to use aircon. Additionally, the headliner and door cards are in above average condition, although the carpet does have some light staining. The volume knob is missing from the radio as well but we are sure that's easily remedied.
Body on frame SUVs are becoming rarer here stateside but this Land Cruiser sticks to the old, tried and true, formula. The 3.0L 1KT-ZE four-banger fashioned in the engine bay is a torquey little unit and is fairly efficient at the same time. Benefitting from a fresh oil and filter service, she happily turns over and sets into a constant idle. Acceleration is brisk and the automatic transmission shifts as it should. A selective transfer case includes a driver-selectable low range and electronic hub lock is available if the going gets tough. The brakes are confident and the suspension can handle daily driving and overlanding with ease. The power steering is on the lighter side and the short wheelbase makes parking a snap. A set of black alloys with grippy BFGs complete the look and will be more than happy to lend a hand if you need some added grip over sand, snow, and gravel.
