Interior Overview
The cabin is simple and expansive. Drivers of all sizes can find the perfect seating position thanks to a tilt-adjustable steering column and power-adjustable lumbar support. Power windows, power mirrors, and power locks all work like a charm, making daily use more enjoyable. The center stack is close by and includes a functional Bluetooth-equipped touchscreen Panasonic radio. Below the simple-to-use climate control system blasts piping hot heat and cold a/c at a moments notice. The headliner is in good shape, as are the door cards and carpets, and the seat blue textured upholstery steals the show. The material does show some minor stains but lacks any major rips, stains, or tears. The middle row can split-fold and recline, and the third row jump seats can be stowed against the D pillar. Aside from the typical cracked dashboard, which is obscured by a fitted mat, it’s hard to critique the cabin, as this truck was clearly cared for in a life overseas, and preserved well for new beginnings stateside.
Mechanical Overview
Body on frame and built to last, this Toyota is one tough cookie. In fact, this chassis is so beloved, it’s still produced today. The 1KZ-TE powerplant is an incredible mill, and this one is fresh off an oil and filter service. It springs to life with the twist of the key immediately, courtesy of two new 12v batteries. A new engine air filter and new fuel filter were replaced as part of our tune-up, and one of our trained techs addressed a leaky valve cover gasket by replacing it. The 1K creates loads of low-end grunt and is mated to a stout automatic gearbox. It shifts like a champ, and the pilot can choose to drive in 2WD or 4WD. A low-range 4WD can be engaged when the going gets tough, and over the pavement this vehicle is a fine performer, too. It hustles up to highway speeds with ease. The long wheelbase distributes road imperfections well, and the Land Cruiser offers loads of ground clearance. The disc brakes feel confident, and the power steering is light and on point. Fresh rubber was mounted and balanced at each corner, and this SUV tracks straight as an arrow, courtesy of a fresh alignment!
