We are big fans of Toyota's full lineup of trucks largely due to their ruggedness and dependability. It's not often we can brag about SUV performance, but this 1995 is an exception to the rule. Rocking some factory Recaro buckets and a punchy 3.0L turbodiesel this '95 also comes with a long list of power upgrades as well.  Boasting a mere 92K verified miles this Aztec Blue (23W) five-seater is in good shape other than the normal dings and chips associated with routine use. Recently serviced and legally imported this Hilux Surf is practical, fun, and inexpensive to operate.

The cabin is full of decent upgrades that can be immediately enjoyed. The factory audio system was updated with a newer Kenwood unit that includes USB and auxiliary inputs which helps offset some of its stateside compatibility issues. It's mounted central to the dash and is easy to reach and use. The automatic climate control system is standard and the A/C system blows cold currently. The heat is piping hot and these rigs are great for year-round use. The focal point of the interior is the Recaro seats. Bolstered so that one doesn't slosh about when driving spiritedly, they bring a sportier feel to the cabin. Aside from a small tear on the driver's bolster, there are no major imperfections like holes or rips to note. Power equipment includes cruise control, power windows, and locks. The power mirrors no longer operate, but then again, this rig is nearly 30 years old. Rear privacy glass keeps the harmful rays of the run out of the cabin and the interior cooler on summer days. The headliner, door cards, and carpeting all look good, and this Hilux even includes the original security shade. The rear glass powers down so the tailgate can be lowered and the seats fold forward if you have some larger cargo that needs to go along.

Mechanically, this Hilux has what you need. Under the hood, and fresh off an oil and filter service, sits Toyota's legendary 1KZ-TE. In stock form the power is impressive and the fuel economy is decent. The startup is brisk and the 3.0L feels strong as it accelerates up to speed. The four-banger is mated to an automatic transmission which shifts properly and is geared for highway speeds. The selective four-wheel-drive system works as it should, and the driver has the option for 2WD, 4WD High, and 4WD Low. This gives the Hilux the ability to be driven year-round and in less than ideal conditions. The suspension is also fascinating in its design. Toyota fashioned their patented TEMS electronic suspension for this vehicle. It can adjust the firmness on the fly with the click of a cabin mounted button. The brakes are confident and the power steering is light and easy to actuate. The exterior dimensions are such that city parking isn't intimidating as it would be in an Escalade. The OEM alloys are all wrapped in new all-season rubber to ensure premium year-round grip and they look good to boot!
