Exterior Overview
Toyota produced only world-class SUVs during the 1990s. Bulletproof powertrains, gutty 4×4 systems, capable suspensions, and well-sorted interiors were all hallmarks of the brand’s portfolio. This 1995 KZN130 Hilux Surf is an honest, simple, and nimble, turbodiesel SUV with a real body-on-frame platform underneath the skin. Adorned by gunmetal refinished OEM 15″ alloys, an aggressive OEM spoiler, OEM spare tire swing arm, factory rainguards, rear privacy tint, a chrome rear bumper, and 2″ lift, this imposing truck stands tall! Aside from a few light chips, scuffs, and dings, the Toyota Black (204) paint has fared well over the years. Offered with a mere 109k verified and documented miles, this chassis has been cared for more than your average high mileage, beat-up American 4Runner for sale. Fresh off a recent service, this ute would make for a dependable daily driver, a beautiful beach cruiser, or a tasteful trail-rated playtoy. You can’t go wrong with one of these trustworthy 4WD Toyotas, and this handsome Japanese Classic proves it!

Interior Overview
Simple in its design, the cabin has everything you need to drive comfortably daily. The center stack is close by and features an intuitive climate system. Large buttons are easy to depress with gloves on, and the system doles out piping-hot heat and cold air conditioning upon request. For those who prefer more natural ventilation, a power moonroof and rear hatch glass can be retracted with ease. A snazzy Pioneer radio upgrade supplements the cabin with tunes and sounds decent. Leather seat covers bring an upscale feel to the cabin and are in fair shape. The carpets and headliner have withstood the past 25 years without sustaining major abuse, and the same can be said for the door cards. A tilt steering column and adjustable lumbar support allow the driver to find the optional seating position. The rear seats 4-way recline, too. Power windows, door locks, and mirrors all function and make daily use more enjoyable. Aside from a cracked dash and some wear on the leather wrapped MoMo steering wheel, there is little to complain about, and this Surf even includes the OEM carpet mats with the purchase.

Mechanical Overview
Under the skin, this body-on-frame beast is built to last. The same can be said for the legendary powerplant, the 1KZ-TE. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 3.0L mill starts up with the twist of a key care of two new 12v batteries. A new fuel filter was taken care of and one of our trained techs installed a new valve cover gasket and half-moon seal to ensure the oil level stays on full. The four-banger is linked to a stout automatic transmission that shifts just as it should. Power can be sent to the rear wheels when trying to maximize fuel economy and when additional traction is required a 4WD high and low can be utilized. The Surf accelerates impressively for an SUV and the lighter curb weight keeps stopping distances short. The suspension offers loads of ground clearance and for Virginia state safety inspection we replaced the inner CV axle boots. The power steering is communicative for a truck and a new steering stabilizer and alignment do wonders for how it feels. The 15s are wrapped in BFG rubber that is knee-deep in tread. Turn key and ready to roll, this terrific Toyota is a sure bet!
