1995 Hilux SSR-X Limited
The stable of Toyota SUVs during the mid-'90s was full of incredible models. Large and small, the brand had you covered and its midsize offering, the Hilux Surf was a real gem. This 1995 SSR-X Limited is a stellar-looking truck, and it drives even better. Finished in One-Off Tanzanite Blue, and accessorized by a set of OEM rainguards, OEM rear spoiler, factory brush guard, and WEDS Keeler alloys, the paint is in good nick aside from some light dings and chips. Repairs in Japan include a replacement front bumper. Fresh off a recent service this 100k verified and documented mile 4x4 is turn-key and ready to rock. For such a spacious and sizable truck it performs well on and off the been path. Collectible, determined, and reliable the N130 Surf is a timeless design that is great for families, adventurous types, and enthusiasts.
The cabin is simple, spacious, and uncluttered. The view of the road ahead is clear and commanding as this tall ute rides far above traffic. The dash does have a few of the common cracks, and located in the center stack is a functional OEM audio system along with all of the climate controls. The A/C blows cold at the moment but if you prefer natural ventilation the rear glass powers down as do all the windows. The seats are in good shape and lack any major rips, stains, or tears. Comfy on long cruises and durable, they seem to have been cared for in a prior life. The same can be said for the headliner, carpets, and door cards which have escaped the past half century without sustaining major damage. Even the OEM carpet mats are included, which the new owner will love. Power locks and mirrors also make daily use more enjoyable.
The body on frame underpinnings are simple, strong, and designed to withstand a bunch of abuse. This rig is powered by a potent 3.0L turbo diesel engine that is fresh off an oil and filter service. Two new 12v batteries were installed while in our shop and the 1KZ-TE turns over promptly with the twist of the key. A new valve cover gasket was installed to keep the powerplant topped up on oil, as was a new alternator, and the four-banger now has a new lease on life. It is mated to a smooth shifting automatic transmission and selective transfer case. Shifts occur seamlessly and the Hilux Surf sails up to highway speeds without breaking a sweat. It is also peppy around the city, and if you happen to get onto some loose surfaces, 4WD can be engaged. Even a low gear setting is on hand for beach trips or the occasional rocky trail backroad. To ensure the next owner would be able to avoid any glitchy running issues, we had the ECU professionally rebuilt and it even includes a lifetime warranty! The suspension provides tons of ground clearance and can handle large and small potholes with confidence. The power steering is light and easy to park while the the brakes clamp down with confidence. Lastly, we installed new 31" Falkens at all four corners. The aggressive new rubber looks tough and more importantly will deliver tens of thousands of miles of year-round grip to come. We also took care of the spare as well.
