For those in the know, J78 Prado's are some of the most striking and capable vehicles exported off the island of the rising sun. This 1994 Land Cruiser is finished in a Dark Emerald Green (6M1) and offered with a mere 143k verified and documented miles on the chassis. Aside from some normal dings and chips associated with normal use, the paint is in good shape and is set off by a set of refinished five-spoke alloys and a polished brush guard. Best of all, this recently serviced third-row truck boasts a real-deal manual transmission, a gutty turbodiesel, and four-wheel drive. This SX truly allows you to have your cake and eat it too. It seems you can have it all, with practicality, performance, and reliability all in one stunning package. For overlanding, kid hauling, or a weekend on the trails, this might just be the ideal Japanese Classic.

Although this model has DNA that can be traced all the way back to 1984, Toyota sought to upgrade the cabin several times during the production run. The result is this mid 90's Prado which includes a plush cabin and plenty of power accessories. The view outside the cabin is clean, clear, unobstructed, and commanding. Although there are a few dash cracks to note, a custom cover obscures them and all the switchgear is at hand. The manual climate control includes working A/C and the heat is boiling for the winter ahead. A touch screen Bluetooth Kenwood head-unit replaced the dated factory one, modernizing the interior a touch. It sounds great for the age of the vehicle, but we love the 1KZ burble from under the bonnet just as much, admittedly. Power windows, locks, and mirrors are standard for those who plan to daily drive, and they all function. The driver even benefits from power adjustable lumbar support and an adjustable steering column for ultimate comfort. A large, black Nardi steering wheel is another snazzy upgrade, and it features the perfect grip! The textured blue and gray cloth is also in above-average shape despite being nearly three decades old. They lack any major rips, stains, or tears and are supportive and soft. The middle row can fold all the way forward to maximize cargo area and the third row behind can be removed completely or stowed on the D-pillar. The matching door cards have resisted any major abuse over the years, as have the carpets and headliner. It's obvious this car was cared for in a prior life and it shows!

These simple 70 series trucks are a joy to own. They perform impressively despite this rig's size thanks to the legendary 1KZ-TE. The 3.0L starts up promptly thanks to two newly installed 12v batteries. It's fresh off an oil and filter service and needs no scheduled maintenance for another three-thousand miles. The four-banger sends power through a five-speed manual gearbox and the selective transfercase allows the driver to determine whether two driven wheels or four is required. The ability to throw the truck in low gearing and lock the hubs from the cabin makes for trusty winter transport, even if the conditions outside are less than ideal. Newer struts were installed in Japan at some point and this truck rides better than most do on the original, aged factory bits. The brakes and power steering inspire confidence and the all-season tires have plenty of good tread!
