The Land Cruiser is a household name for four-wheel-drive enthusiasts, largely due to its thundering track record spanning seven decades. This 80 series generation was sold widely in the states, and there is a wealth of parts and service options due to this. Literally to the point where people will take these back into their local Toyota dealership for routine service work. Finished in a custom Brilliant Black, with only 92K verified miles the body is in good shape other than a few typical dings, and chips you're bound to accumulate with routine use. While originally leaving the factory in Dark Bluish Gray Metallic (183) the color swap was well done as all of the jambs were painted, you literally wouldn’t know unless you were to check the VIN tag. The paint job appears to be a bit older as the clear coat does have some light etching, but is free from peeling which would be a real concern. Perfect for a daily driver, that way if someone scratches it with a door in a parking lot it's not the end of the world. Rolling on a massive set of 12.5x33" new Falken All Terrains only helps build on that off-road street cred. The clear LED tails also give the back end a bit more modern feel.

The interior is packed full of features and amenities that were rare at the time. For instance, a factory CoolBox icemaker center console sits in between to OEM heated seats. Power one-touch windows and locks are also standard, and the driver even benefits from power lumbar adjustment. The front passengers get to enjoy the functional sunroof, which tilts and retracts to provide extra ventilation. And when the weather may not be ideal but you still want fresh air the factory rain guards do a great job. The gauges are large and easy to read, and the dual-zone digital climate system works as it should for those remaining summer days ahead. The two-tone gray Alcantara seats are in good shape, and the rear bench offers plenty of head, shoulder, and legroom. The material is still soft to the touch and devoid of any notable rips or stains. Long cruises can be had in comfort, and this SUV has plenty of storage options since the rear seats were removed, and it even has cruise control! The carpets, headliner, and door cards are in good condition which can sometimes fall victim to dirt and delamination over time. The Momo race wheel is a surprisingly nice touch as it cuts down on the diameter a bit which makes getting in and out a bit easier, not to mention it looks more streamlined than the original one did. The Carrozzeria double din is plenty sufficient for the moment, but in time you'll probably want to swap it out with something more current and US friendly.

Toyota's 4x4 systems have always been lauded for durability, capabilities, and simplicity. The 80 series exemplified this, with a smooth 1FZ-FE straight-six mated to full-time 4WD it'll be tough to get this one stuck. The bruty 4.5L quickly jumps to life with a twist of the key. It sounds a bit beefier than normal thanks to the Complete Project Flex Style catback exhaust. Plus that polished tip looks pretty nice peeking out from behind the giant rear bumper. The automatic transmission shifts into gear properly and doesn't slam into gear or clunk at all. Acceleration is linear and the huge ute never seems to struggle to get up to interstate speeds. Around town these are surprisingly maneuverable, you could even say light on their feet considering they're 5K+ SUVs. The stock suspension has no issues with ground clearance and gobbling up your typically crappy US highways. If you feel that it's just a bit too small for your liking there's no shortage of lift kits available for these. After spending a little time back in the shop we've got this one ready to go. Aside from those new Falken A/Ts, a fresh air filter, new set of rear shocks, as well as new brake pads upfront. This brutish ute is shockingly easy to deal with on a daily basis and is loved by all for its low cost of ownership. Its bulletproof reliability and massive interior make this an ideal family hauler, and a certified Japanese Classic.
