SSR-G trim level Hilux Surfs are about as desirable as the model gets, and this 1994 is no exception. Powered by one of the most capable diesel's Toyota ever built, this 4WD SUV can off-road with the best of them, yet is civil enough for daily use. Offered with only 118K original miles the body is in good shape aside from the normal scuffs, dings, and dents associated with routine use. Equipped with tons of power options and a special Recaro interior this Dark Blue Pearl (8E3) exterior looks fantastic. Adorned with aftermarket alloy wheels and OEM rain guards make it a real head-turner. Real body-on-frame trucks are becoming a thing of the past and this Hilux Surf deserves an owner and enthusiast who can appreciate it for what it is, a true Japanese classic.

The cockpit has plenty of room for five passengers and is simple and straightforward in its design. Updated with a stylish wood grain Personal steering wheel, and a Pioneer USB integrated head unit, she has all the amenities you'd ever need. Power windows, mirrors, and locks are standard equipment and a functional sunroof brings in much need natural light and ventilation to the cabin. The Recaro seats are more aggressively bolstered and keeps everyone from sloshing around when hitting the dunes. They are in good shape and lack rips, stains, or tears. The headliner and door cards are both in good nick as well, and the gray carpets have held up well over the years. The dash is in good shape except for a small blemish that was obscured by a cell phone holder located above the gauge cluster. Toyota thought integrating cupholders into the center stack was a good idea, and we agree. The climate control system is located below said cupholders, and is simple to use with its large, easy to read, buttons. the cargo area is spacious and features a roll-down rear window which is lightly tinted. It's obvious to anyone who sees the interior in person that it was well cared for, as were the mechanicals.

The 1KZ-TE 3.0L four-banger is one of the best powerplants ever built by Toyota. Fresh off an oil and filter service, she cranks over happily and sets into a constant idle. Mated to a rugged 4WD system, the automatic transmission does a great job of delivering power to the drive wheels. Its shifts without any noticeable clunking or hesitation, and can handle this diesels torque output just fine. The transfer case is selective if the going gets tough, with low gearing available to get unstuck if you need it. The alloy wheels are all wrapped in new Falken all-terrain rubber and can handle all road surfaces with confidence. Even the spare has been replaced with expensive Falken rubber, as we don't cut corners while reconditioning our used vehicles. The power steering is weighted nicely and the brakes can stop this truck down manageable speeds without a sweat if you need them. The TEMS adjustable suspension allows the driver to adjust ride quality via a dash-mounted switch; the system handles bumps large and small without and issue and is comfortable when Overlanding.
