The Hilux is the perfect size SUV for those with an active lifestyle. With room for five, a legendary turbodiesel, and a 4x4 system, it can take you anywhere. This 1994 Hilux Surf is a prime example of one of Toyotas best trucks ever built and is offered with a mere 97K verified miles. Finished in a striking Evergreen Pearl Metallic over Silver two-tone (29X), the body is in good shape other than some minor scuffs and dings associated with normal use. Sporting OEM rain guards, new oversized Falken tires, and a JAOS brush guard, this SSR-X Limited rugged aesthetic alludes heavily to this rigs impressive off-roading resume.

The surprising part about these trucks is how much power equipment is standard and how well Toyota's interior materials have aged. SSR-X Limited trim models are amongst the best equipped, and this one is no exception. A highly desirable factory retractable sunroof works as it should. Its complemented by a slew of other power accessories including locks, mirrors, and windows. Even the rear window is retractable for improved ventilation with the press of a switch. At some point in the car's life keyless entry was added and it works as it should. Unlike other Hilux owners, you can actually walk up to your ride and open the doors remotely! The color pallet is somewhat neutral, and the gray seats are well-bolstered and in wonderful shape. Lacking any major rips, stains, or tears they are still soft to the touch. The driver controls are all at hand and the Hilux includes automatic climate and upgraded audio. The OEM stereo was removed for a superior Sanyo unit that features touchscreen capabilities. It powers the speakers just fine and the clarity is good enough quality for daily driving. Cupholder slide out from the center stack and more storage can be found inside the leather-wrapped center console and glovebox. The dash is in good shape, lacking any distortion or cracking. The carpets, headliner, and door cards have also held up well over the years. For those who can appreciate the timeless originality of this truck, even the owner's manual is included inside.

The driveline is nearly bulletproof with the 3.0L 1KZ-TE stealing the show. These torquey four-bangers impress everyone with their toughness and reliability. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the powerplant lurches to life with the twist of a key. A new air filter has also been installed to keep the engine as efficient and powerful as possible. The automatic transmission is linked to a selective transfer case, that can be used in 2WD or 4WD depending on driver preference. Acceleration is impressive for an SUV, and the gasoline-powered Hilux doesn't hold a candle to these things. The TEMS adjustable suspension has a setting for soft or firm ride quality and this Toyota can handle the rigors of daily driving without beating you up. The brakes are sufficient and the steering power-assisted and smooth to operate. The JAOS Berg alloy wheels are all wrapped in new rubber, that can be handle tarmac, sand, and snow without breaking a sweat. A timeless classic, these Hilux make sense for those who value a real body-on-frame SUV. They are cheap to run, easy to find parts for, and a blast to drive. This turn-key Japanese Classic is legally imported, recently serviced, and ready to rock!
