Compared to stateside minivan offerings, Japanese family haulers seemed to excel not only in exterior styling, but interior functionality as well. Toyota's Hiace was at the forefront of the cabover van boom, with models like this 1994 H100 boasting functionality that was leaps and bounds above the competition, all with a bulletproof turbo diesel mill powering the operation. The exterior of this "Pleasure Wagon" is finished in a two tone Reddish Brown over Light Beige Metallic (21T) and is set off by a sleek factory graphics package, a nifty rear under mirror, privacy screening and aftermarket 15" alloys. With no major defects to note on the exterior outside of some expected wear and tear on the graphics and light dents, scuffs, and minor fading throughout. This Hiace is a timeless vehicle sure to make a splash on stateside shores, and with 104k verified/documented miles on the clock she's got plenty of life left in her! Comfortable, capable, and surprisingly efficient, the H100 Hiace is a Japanese Classic that makes for one heck of a good road trip hauler!

The interior is clean, spacious, and comes packed with all the amenities needed to make the drive comfortable, from short jaunts around town to longer highway commutes. Fans of the Phoenix Suns will appreciate the accents on the interior upholstery, and the fabric as a whole has clearly been well cared for in a prior life, showing no major rips, tears, stains, or even bolster crumbling to note. The dash is clean and low-profile, spanning the width of the cabin, and shows no fading, cracks, or pesky UV peeling to note. The lower dash trim houses a slew of amenities, namely a fully functional climate control unit, with cold A/C and hot heat on tap. To add a touch of modernization to the cabin, an Eclipse touch screen head unit was added,  perfect for playing your favorite tunes. As any family man would appreciate, accessibility seems to prioritize the rear passengers. Rear A/C is fully functioning, the rear windows pop open, and a massive centrally mounted moonroof unfurls at the push of a button. Two rear sunroofs even butterfly up to allow natural ventilation to fully flow throughout the cabin. The middle bench is extremely versatile, swiveling a full 180 degrees for any impromptu road trip card games, and the rear row even features an integrated tray table. All auxiliary seating folds fully flat in case you need to catch some Z's, and it also opens up plenty of additional cargo space as well. The front power windows unfurl without hesitation, and the power mirrors work too, although we must note that the power folding mirror feature is no longer functioning. The headliner and carpets are in good nick, and we've even included the factory carpeted floor mats to protect this van's interior!

You may have noticed this van's relatively abrupt nose from the exterior photos. Instead of being bogged down by a cumbersome front engine, front drive layout, the mid mounted 1KZ-TE is much more exciting, and is easily one of Toyota's most bulletproof diesel powerplants to date! This one is mechanically ready and cranks over swiftly, care of a new 12v battery which was also installed to properly test the alternator. A new fuel filter was installed, and an oil and filter service was performed to prevent this 1KZ from leaking any necessary lubricant. For a high-riding van, drivability is exceptionally smooth, and the turbo helps spool this one up to highway speeds in a jiffy. Shifts through the automatic transmission are smooth and compliant, and power is sent down to the rear wheels with no unwanted slips. The suspension soaks up road imperfections with ease, and we've shored up the drivetrain a bit with a new front left upper ball joint. The brakes do a swell job at stopping this behemoth on a dime, and to sweeten the deal even more we've wrapped the alloys in fresh Falken rubber, sure to deliver plenty of grip for tens of thousands of miles to come.
