Toyota can build a world-class luxury sedan, and the UCF21 was hands down one of the brand's finest. This 1995 Celsior is finished in Black Jade Metallic (6N9) and features a smooth-running V8 and rear-drive. As a second-generation Celsior, it features a larger cabin and a host of safety and performance improvements. The body is in good shape other than some minor dings and chips, and the chassis boasts a cool 38K verified miles. Recently serviced and legally imported, this reliable sedan is a savvy buy for those who value true Japanese luxury.

The Celsior is quite sizable on the inside. The head, leg, and shoulder room are plentiful in any seat. The dash is in good shape lacking any major cracks, distortion, or discoloration. For the first time, dual airbags are standard although we hope they are never utilized. The driver has a powered seat with electric seat belt adjusters. Paired with an electric telescoping and tilting column, so you can find a comfy driving position for any road trip. Power folding mirrors and electric locks and windows are standard and work as they should. The factory touchscreen climate system works like a charm, although it's not as bright as it once was. The gauges are well light and easy to read at night. The tach and speedo have lost functionality a few times on us, but they are working currently. Radio functions are also partially handled by this unit and the OEM system sounds good and functions properly. The tan cloth seats are in the wonderful nick and lack any major rips stains or tears. Long drivers can be had in comfort, and the cabin sorts out most noise, vibration, and harshness. The carpets, headliner, and door cards all look good as well, and it's obvious this sedan was cared for in Japan.

The engine is perhaps the penultimate V8 produced in Japan of this era. The 1UZ-FE as it is known was revised for a touch more power to improve efficiency and performance. Fresh off an oil and filter service, the 4.0L mill turns over quickly thanks to a new 12V battery. The engine idles incredibly smooth and is mated to an automatic transmission. The Celsior feels like it glides more so than accelerates and the transmission feels strong. It lacks any hesitation or clunking and powers the rear wheels. The air suspension has been replaced with new struts and springs which dampen well against road imperfections. Since the bags are prone to leaking over time this will alleviate some headaches down the road. It rides like a couch on wheels happily sailing over large and small road imperfections. The steering is light and easy to articulate and the brakes confidently stop this lead sled. The factory silver alloy wheels all have new rubber-mounted and balanced at all four corners. They quiet the ride down, can be used year-round, and should last for tens of thousands of miles to come.
