If the 180SX isn't one of the most instantly recognizable bodies to come out of the Nissan factory then I don't know what is. The S13 chassis has been a staple in the car world since it first debuted in 1989. Whether you love it for its timeless good looks, potent power, or supremely balanced chassis, you really can't go wrong. In stock form, these are great cars, but once you start doing some work to them they take on an entirely new appeal. Already in one of the best colors available; Super Black (KH3) you know it's starting off on the right foot. What really makes this car special are all of the additions starting out will the full '97 Type-X aero which are arguably the best-looking ones of the bunch. The Type-X look makes up the front and rear bumper, side skirts, rear spats, wing, and tail lights. The center garnish was also replaced by a carbon fiber one opposed to the typical color matched one. Naturally, you can't keep a car like this at a stock height so KTS Advantage coilovers get the ride height dialed down to a more acceptable level for the 17" SSR Professors. And the polished lip of SSR's really pops off of the super black paint. The fit and finish of everything sit much better than typical aftermarket aero giving it a more factory look. It's even sporting the rare factory mirror rain visors which you can hardly ever find. The body has been kept up pretty well and is free of any concerning dents or dings. It feels safe to say the car was repainted when all of the aero was added since there's no real shade difference in the panels. Because of that, the paint has no notable blemishes to note which is great to report.

The interior has been given much much of the same treatment as the exterior. Since the factory seats leave a bit to be desired both driver and passenger have new and improved options. To keep you firmly planted and in control a fixed back Bride bucket keeps the drive right where they need to be. For the passenger, a very trick orange S15 seat offers premium bolstering while being surprisingly comfortable, not to mention being a real standout. Both seats are in great condition with no real staining or tears. The one spot to note is on the driver's side bolster, like most all buckets, due to having to climb in and out over it. A classic Nardi steering wheel and Nismo shift knob replace the bulky stock ones for a more streamlined look. Mounted in the gauge cluster is a Techtom digital speed meter that gives an exact readout in live time for both speed and RPM reading more accurately than the stock gauges do. There is a small cluster of dead pixels in the display which can be seen in the photos but the location of it has little impact on the readout. Mounted against the trans tunnel is a Blitz Racing Monitor Digital Compact which gives you the ability to monitor several different vitals at a time. The newer Carrozzeria head unit has a USB input and also goes up considerably higher in the FM range than most Japanese radios which mean you have far more US compatibility than normal which is a nice change of pace. Like all S13's the dash does have its typical cracks, which is why it sports a Shevron dash mat to clean up the looks of the interior. The trunk has been stripped for weight reduction, however, that does create a bit more noise in the cabin than normal. Overall the cockpit has been well preserved still retaining all of its powered features to make day to day life more enjoyable like the power windows, mirrors, locks, and climate control.

Naturally, what's under the hood is what makes the 180SX so much superior to the US 240SX. The blacktop SR20DET is the proper motor choice for this sports coupe. Of course, the motor doesn't fully make up the whole package, the 5 speed that sends the power outback is what seals the deal. Like the rest of the car, we have a few bonus goodies to sweeten the deal. A Blitz intake actually lets the turbo be heard, unlike the restrictive factory air box. To compliment outback is a Fujitsubo catback exhaust to let the SR be known and gives a great tone at idle. Once you start to give it some gas it really opens up without being overbearing on the highway. With only 106K verified miles the power delivery is smooth from the SR and pulls very linear all the way to redline. Shifts through the 5 speed are crisp and hitch-free. Strut tower braces help to stiffen the chassis and aid those KTS coilovers in keeping this bantamweight planted. To ensure that you can drive this thing home our trained techs have gone over it and brought all of the key maintenance up to date. Four new tires make sure you've got ample grip when you want it, new plugs for the SR, and a routine oil change has it back in fighting shape. With all the right looks both inside and out paired up with a legendary drive-train makes this car a no brainer. With clean S13's becoming an increasing challenge to find you'll be hard-pressed to find another one like this.
