1994 marked the first evolution of THE Evolution. Throughout the lineage of Mitsubishi's rally monster, subtle changes were made to improve the drive characteristics. With each generation the car built upon the already phenomenal drive by enhancing the aero and continuing to add more power. The exterior received larger intake ducts for more flow to the factory front mount and provide superior cooling to the brakes. Out back the already trademark wing got beefed up even further giving the back end the proper rally appeal. This generation grew slightly wider than the outgoing body in order to further enhance stability in the turns. Finished in Athens Silver (A21) keeps the Evo on the more understated side despite all of the functional aero. It looks like the car was probably resprayed at some point as it's in great shape. The body has been kept up equally well, with no notable dents or dings to report. The chin spoiler has done it's job, taking any scuffs and scrapes instead of the bumper. There are no cracks or splits, however there are scrapes on it as one would expect. The body has been kept all stock with the exception of the aftermarket fog lights. Even down to the original 15" white OZ Racing wheels, which look killer off the Athens Silver.

While the Evo was built for one thing, and that was going fast, the GSR makes the experience a bit more refined. The RS came lacking power windows, a radio, even air conditioning in the name of weight. While fantastic on track, not as pleasant getting to or from said track. The GSR comes equipped with all of the basic amenities to make it more of a daily driver. The reclinable Recaro buckets look right at home as they became the signature seat of the chassis. The seats are in overall good condition, however they do have some sun damage from the years. The high bolsters are all in good shape, and all of the seats are largely free of any notable stains. Due to the sun damage there are some seams that have separated but I'm sure could be corrected by a proper upholstery shop. The dash however remained largely unscathed as there's no fading or cracks. Atop the steering column a Greddy boost gauge helps to keep an eye on boost levels. And when you remove the safety padding on the center of the steering wheel it reveals a proper Momo race wheel. While the A/C is functioning the LCD screen for it is not. Since the controls are all independent of that screen you can still operate the climate control by actual air temperature.

The turbocharged four cylinder heart of this beast the legend that it is today. The 4G63-T was a bulletproof block built to handle serious power. In stock trim the Evo II has been bumped slightly over it's predecessor while torque remained the same. Delivering power to all four wheels through a mechanical LSD means you can put down the power in any condition. Power to weight ratio is the recipe for it's success; coming in at right around 2,600lbs. It's hard to describe just how light weight and nimble this car is. You truly have to drive one to really take it all in. These cars are quick even by today's standards with a 0-60 time of right at 5.0 seconds. To help the turbo breathe a bit better the stock intake has been replaced by a HKS intake. And Ralliart front and rear strut tower braces help to cut down on chassis flex. Ground control is enhanced by Tein coilovers, with a slightly lowered ride height. The gauge cluster currently reads out at 76K miles however it was not verified before leaving Japan. Based on the condition of the car we don't believe it to be far off, but technically being sold as not actual. The timing belt was replaced 8K miles ago and since touching down here it's received 4 new tires, a fresh set of plugs, a new intake filter, along with a routine oil change. The evo truly is one of the best driver's cars available today, even if it's just making your morning commute I guarantee you'll have a smile on your face. I can only imagine what it could do if you turned it loose on a good auto cross course.
