The Mitsubishi Delica has a cult following here in the USA, and is one of the most distinct passenger vans ever produced. This 1994 is prized for its 4WD, durable diesel powerplant, and aggressive styling, but best of all; it only has 38K verified miles. Finished in a Green/Gray two-tone (G7UM) that pops in direct sunlight, the body is in good shape other than some scuffs on the lower cladding, and some small dings and chips associated with normal use. The OEM rain guards, roof ladder, and factory brush guards suit this van's rugged aesthetic, and it also boasts a bevy of decent maintenance items to boot.

The Delica is prized for its thoughtful and voluminous interior. With seating for eight and some extra space for cargo, the Delica comes nicely equipped with plenty of standard power equipment. Power windows with one-touch control and power locks work as they should. The dash is simply laid out and features an off-road gauge suite and a factory gauge cluster that work as they should. The actual dash, which is gray in color, doesn't have any cracks, distortion or holes. The headliner and door cards, which are also varying shades of gray, are in good shape as well. A telltale sign that the van was cared for in Japan is the fact that the original OEM plush carpet mats are still in place in all three rows. Over the years they have nicely protected the carpets, and the interior doesn't have any offensive odors or smell like smoke. The steering wheel looks mint, as do most of the interior plastics. The largest interior blemish is the shifter trim which has cracked in the center of the shifter assembly. It's minor, but we figured it should be noted. The rear seats do swivel and do fully recline to create a decent sleeping arrangement. The climate control system is also operational, as this van will surely see some hot summers and cold winters here in the USA.

Mounted between the front seats, Mitsubishis legendary 4D56 rests. Mounted centrally in the car, it creates decent weight distribution which improves braking and overall stability. A newly installed 12V battery aids startup, and the four-cylinder cranks to life eagerly. Benefitting from new serpentine belts and a fresh oil service she purrs like a kitten. Acceleration is smooth and linear and the automatic transmission shifts without any issues like hesitation or clunking. Power is sent to all four wheels, and which is helpful if you ever encounter inclement weather. The power steering is smooth and the suspension provides plenty of ground clearance. Bumps large and small are no problem for this beast, and the approach angles are about as aggressive as anything we sell. The brakes are assured and slow this eight-seater down to manageable speeds with confidence.

As an adventure van or unique rugrat transporter, the Delica fills an important niche. For those who don't want a typical SUV or Toyota Sienna, this could be your ideal Japanese Classic.
